I guess. :D

That's good to hear. I see.

It's quite entertaining so far.
TheBigGuy Jul 23, 8:34 AM

I'm doing good. How about you?

you really like the storytelling aspect of their music. i respect that. the beauty of king gizz lies in their ability to evolve and come up with new music in different genres, and that is the main reason so many people love them. however, even if an album disappoints me, i simply cant see myself losing faith in this band, because i have no idea what they are going to create next. hell, they released Nonagon Infinity after Paper Mache Dream Balloon, and those two are literally opposite extremes of their music.

but i dont really think that fishing for fishies and infest the rats nest are them trying to reach wider audience. that would mean they are just diluting their sound and trying too much to sound like something thats already out there, and i dont really see that in their latest music. its actually so enviromentally charged, it actually might drive some people away. even though enviromental issues are not strictly political, many people associate them with certain political stances and they do not like to hear that in the music they listen to.

it more feels to me like they are trying to make music that is more closely connected to themselves as individuals. Stu Mackenzie is a vegan and he and Joey grew up listening to bands like Slayer, Anthrax and Metallica. so what album do they make ? enviromental thrash metal album.

but i am not going to say that your opinion is wrong, because i can see where it is coming from. infest the rats nest album was apparently recorded only by 3 out of 7 members (Stu, Joey and Michael) as other members had touring duties and/or were busy releasing music with their projects (The Murlocs, Pipe-Eye) and their bass player also just recently became a father.

as for my favourite albums, its a split between polygondwanaland and nonagon infinity. with paper mache dream balloon and murder of the universe close behind them.

i mentioned Oh Sees in my previous reply, definitely give them a listen if you dont know them. these two bands go hand in hand as my favourites.

Fishing for Fishies is not really one of my favorites either, but it has some good points. This Thing, Plastic Boogie and Bird Song are great, Reals not Real is a banger. other songs i found to be pretty forgettable, especially cyboogie. one of their more accesible albums, as this is gizz album my parents actually like.

really looking forward to Infest the Rats Nest. i was hoping they would make something along the lines of The Great Chain of Being, but man, i will settle for thrash metal, even though i do not really listen to it. big hype for me. not sure if you heard Mars for the Rich, but it sounds fucking amazing live from what ive seen and heard on live videos.

i really hope i wont accidentally die or go deaf until August 16, as both Oh Sees and King Gizzard are dropping records on that day.

what about you and Infest the Rats Nest ?

now here come the gizz questions, what did you think of fishing for fishies?
TheBigGuy Jul 4, 12:43 AM

Okay. After I finished some other stuff and its first season, I guess.
TheBigGuy Jul 2, 9:09 PM

The Thirty Years' War was a religious and later political conflict in central Europe for hegemony between 1618 and 1648.

No. I haven't seen season 2.
TheBigGuy Jun 29, 12:16 AM
No problem.

Yeah, Hestia and Aiz are making for some really funny moments. And his scream. :)

By the way, Aiz is named after a field commander of the Thirty Years' War.
TheBigGuy Jun 28, 2:29 PM
Yes, it is. I like the character design, interactions, their personalities and the fights. It also has a great soundtrack. Bell "unlocks" the potential to become great and OP, but not without having to work for it. He and his companions are growing as persons over the course of the story.

Hestia and Aiz are glorious.
TheBigGuy Jun 27, 2:17 PM
I see.

I've enjoyed Danmachi a lot. Still have to watch the spin-off and the movie.
TheBigGuy Jun 27, 11:19 AM
I've been reading manga more than watching anime lately.

I'm looking forward to Danmachi S2, Symphogear XV and Isekai Cheat Magician. I haven't really looked at the line-up yet.
