I'm late, but I wanted to respond to your Appare review. I have a lot of the same feelings about the show as well. I thought it was relatively predictable and full of cliches...and I loved it. I really like how it commented on things like sexism and western expansion using the melting pot aspect of the race. I think it did an okay job of having darker undertones, but I think it could have definitely been better as a 2-course/with more time in the turbocharged boiler, and seems like it was planned to be one at some point.

Speaking of turbochargers brings up a good example of this. Appare designs and installs a turbocharger after Seth's (The executive/engineer from GM) backstory shows him coming up with the idea, but the two aren't connected during the show. It would have made for a really good character arc on Seth's part, but it seems like his whole character got cut in half to save on runtime. Kosame definitely exasperates these problems. He is the tropiest of tropes, condensed into an even more unbearable trope. I find it funny how "sword cuts through bullet" has become such a common cliche that it's just expected.

Okay so season 5 has been confirmed to start on spring of 2021, and I have read the manga and I will tell you right now that you’ll be pleased with what’s to come if those are the things you’re looking for. Also S4 did suffer animation issues due to the movie heroes rising coming out around the same time

I have to say i disagree with your my hero academia season 4 review. I can understand where your coming from, on the surface alot of the season seems to be just some random filler that didnt need to be there, but thats where that statement is something I disagree with. In terms of Deku's Character, you said there wasnt much added or anything new that was introduced to improve himself. You have to remember that from season 3, this is the time for Deku to become his own hero outside of Allmight. So this is the first that we see Deku fight a Villian that has nothing to do with Allmight at all, so from this season is the very start of Deku's Origin as a hero. Now examining the main antagonist, Kai Chisaki (Overhaul), you said that the Shie Hassakai had no motives that really meant anything. The entire premise of this Yakuza group is to create a world where quirks are no more, where society stops the false statements of hero and villian. Overhaul believes this and the key to his dream working is a young girl that can rewind things, which is a very game changing power that twists the plot while still remaining coherent. We see this when Deku finally throws down the gauntlet on Overhaul, it would make sense for Eri to having the ability to allow Deku to utilize Full Cowling at 100%, which was a brilliantly well animated scene btw I think we can both agree on this. Also youre aware that MHA has a huge cast and not everything is about Deku, which is what makes the school festival arc a success. It was a refreshing time after the crazy overhaul arc, so its contrast to that fit very well. And I can get behind the fact that it feels like filler, but Horikoshi created this arc and it has some good stuff in it as well. Hori couldve wrote this as some bland festival that really had no soul in it, or zero stakes, but we ended up getting imo one of the best Villains in the show, Gentle Criminal. As previously stated from Overhaul that the world has become stimulated in the idea of quirks and capabilities. Gentle is a Prime example of the flawed society, someone who lives in a world that has told them that they can become a hero but doesnt actually teach them how and just expects it from them. Because of this, and because of his life being rejected, he switches to become a villian to fill in that need in his heart. Then of course he meets La Brava which also had something missing from her, Love. Both become a great and warm hearted duo. The thing about Gentle is that he is someone the audience can empathize with, most normal people can understand the feeling of rejection, neglect, and failure. So we get this and now they are fighting against our main hero, who we should be rooting for of course, but as the story set it up, it was hard to choose who you wanted to win because both sides made alot of sense. Deku wanted to make Eri smile and Gentle wanted to Bask in the excellence and become noticed to everyone because he was always a transparent person. But both Gentle and La Brava know deep down that they have eachother, and thats all that matters. Kind of a long opposition statement but in conclusion. The substance of MHA is so deep and psychologically sophisticated that people tend to overlook it and get blinded by the fact that its popular for all of the wrong reasons. Its a great show with amazing characters but its shadowed by the fandom and all of the "shippers" and what not which is the face of the community, very unfortunate. its overrated and underrated at the same time.

If you are asking anime I liked in the beginning but after watching it again after many shows it's not great?
Snowstrife Oct 5, 2020 8:26 AM
Are you asking, what you think I'm asking?
Snowstrife Oct 4, 2020 11:33 PM
Sorry, I meant anime you liked immediately from episode 1?
Snowstrife Oct 4, 2020 10:44 PM
Yea, anime you liked from the get-go?
Snowstrife Oct 4, 2020 10:38 PM
Yea with the progress we will see many shows crash and burn or make it out.
Snowstrife Oct 4, 2020 10:21 PM
Some people say the character development we saw in season 1 will come again in season 3; I hope that is true. The harem thing really does make a good anime into a trash repetitive show. At least we get to see other anime that I hope won't disappoint me.
Snowstrife Oct 4, 2020 9:47 PM
Yea, I remember seeing the first 6 episodes of season 2 and it wasn't great. Season 1 was exponentially better, it kinda saddens that you say season 3 is at this same trend.
Snowstrife Oct 4, 2020 12:43 PM
Oh hmm, guess I'll keep looking. Lol, I just found it.
Snowstrife Oct 4, 2020 11:31 AM
I can't find the sub-version of Danmachi S2, did you watch it in dub?
Snowstrife Oct 4, 2020 10:57 AM
Yea feels still makes the anime no matter the spoilers in my opinion. Have you watched that pick up girls in dungeon thing season 2 in sub cause I can't find it anywhere?
