Hello!
After reading this manga, i just had a need to write a review! xD Mainly because i had little expectancy about it, but oh mHy, I got more i hoped for! So yeah! To make up for my bad thoughts id like to say what changed my mind.
Fisrtly the Artwork! its absolutely gorgeous! The handsome characters... :Q__... Pretty words dont do their faces much justice, one has to see it. But still it depends on your preference. They arent really drawn in my personal favorite style, but i still liked them alot, so that makes them more so special to me.
oh oh! And
...
those Flower-works!!! I LOVE IT ! Its so nicely done. Isnt too meager nor is it excessive! Gives manga really nice tone :3 Amour~ .. or something xD
Thirdly, the environment is also nicely done, perspective is done correctly on scenery and such (prolly from a photos but its ok). And also, the mangaka adjusted nicely detail-level of her art. So it comes really nice and smooth at the end.
Such a joy to read! ah~
And than we come to storyline, well, storyline is good too. It does seem artificial at some moments, but its ok!(maybe i even got it wrong) I usually prefer stories with a bit more "reality" or.. hmm.. what was the word... I dont know, with a bit more background to it? Or a bit differently analysed? I Dont know... maybe it comes to what "clicks" with you, and has nothing to do with the subject itself. Things that I like might be shit for someone else. So yeah. Maybe I didnt click with this one completely.
Well, not to write any more, ill just tell that i love how the mangaka gave charm to her characters with that "changed" simplified (chibi?) style at moments, to turn up the comedy a bit. It totally worked. but even when not in "chibi-mode" the characters dont lack charm and personality :)
Enjoy!

Ok so,
(Ill try to keep it short and spoilerless)
This manga is one of my favorites, for several reasons.
First one is that her characters are in my opinion one of the best BL out there. Especially the protagonists. Like Natsuki.
You can see nicely how do thoguhts of your average homosexual guy on college flow. Usually they just show them as horny sex machines, but in the truth, theres alot more other important things going on in their heads. Fear, insecurity, hesitation with every move, skepticism and others in line. But Natsuki is a cool guy, and still stays strong considering his situation.
Soo its pathetic
...
free!
And Komano is greatly developed too. Hes like a curious beastie. Again is totally on the spot as how (should?is wanted to?) react. He never let me down as i was reading the manga. My hat down for you Mr. Komano.
Than we have a seccond storyline: The summer of the end of the world and its shape.
It is a nice story too, but it got outshined by Natsuki/Komano one. However i still think its worth of your time. Even tho the Apocalypse got me skeptic about the quality, i wasnt let down. The emotions and atmosphere that this story gives off is still very intriguing. Melancholic, undefined, confused and lastly it gives you peace with a decent perspective into the better future.
All in all, the only thing i minded was that the stories were too short. Especially the Komano/Natsuki. I wouldve read a bit more about how their relationship developed. Even tho it couldnt get any better, so maybe its really ok like this, as sensei left it. Keeps the focus on the psychology and not on the storyline ( Kenji fell in love with Yamamoto and made Yuta angry and jealos...and it goes...)
so yeah, maybe its fine like it ended. Besides we have Kare no Barairo no Jinsei. \o/ Hurray!

I actually gave straight 10s... Hope this doesnt make this first review Im writing invalid in some way. :S Oh well...
I wont tell you much about the details of the story, or characters, I dont want to spoil it for you in any way. After all, thats how i like to read mangas. To read and discover their beauty or charm or whatever they are holding from scratch.
Itoshi no Nekokke excels in so many ways Im having a hard time slowing my emotions and thoughts caused by this manga so that Id be able to write them down here, so ill just let it
...
pour out as it comes to me.
Chapters come as vivid sequences of life one after another. Light subjects, flowing effortlessly through your head, make you crave for more and more. They dont come off as cheap and stupid or annoying. You take them in as something precious and you laugh and feel with the characters. Heck, it even made me applaud, smile, laugh, feel relieved, cheer on characters,... Come to think of it, the subjects were almost exclusively happy and easy. No tragedy or grieving. And thats ok. This one is a fresh breeze into the world of homo-mangas. Shows it in bright light. Well, it is, after all, the result of Authors "daydreaming". So I support it fullheartedly and completely.
You can feel this all but only if you let yourself go for it, that is. This is however one of the requirements when it comes to reading any kind of stuff. Manga among others. Being able to immerse yourself into the thing in front of your eyes. The author managed to, by some miracle, show us the preciousness and beauty of "simple" things and events... as corny as it sounds... And for some of us who share similar dreams and problems, this is indeed a special manga.
The Artwork... Done so elegantly, so smoothly its a feast for the eyes in its tenderness and dynamic. It morphs to any given situations so nicely, its a perfect example of how one should support the storyline with Artwork. Ive read different styles but this is one of the best Art-styles out there, may i say (at least when it comes to yaois and shounen ais). Not excessive, not too simple, its just right.
Characters, that need to be what the writer wants them to be, come off just right and even much closer to the reader, than expected, when you add so many countless emotions they are able to express through this artwork. This is how its done. So many Mangas out there, with so many different styles... in many of them, something is usually lacking. f.Ex, theres a very skilled and talented Artist, but cant really manage to draw the basic emotions... or the other way around... or some other combination... Or the reader just has something against specific art styles, so he hates it no matter what. xD .. and that is ok too! In any case, I dont want to repeat myself too much about awesome Art of the manga reviewed here. Some of you wont be smitten by it like I was, and thats ok too. Im fair.
So if you want to add a shiny sparkly jewel packed so nicely and compactly with nice stuff to your list, give this Manga a try.
