It's been a while but I tried my best to clean up my summer watch list. So far so good, but hot damn the summer season was SHIT!

So MAL has been giving me hard time recently, so I might open up an AniList account maybe before the end of August. This will be a temporary change however.

Was I wrong about Banana Fish? I’m actually surprised at the more subtle and less invasive homoerticism kept to a minimum, at least when the show veers away from a certain character. The main issue I have is Eiji, he’s not that interesting, kind of a beta and being that he’s supposed to be some kind of romantic interest for Ash he doesn’t really have a reason to build a bond with him yet. Not to mention his character design is a bit off, just like Skipper but they killed him off so... Essentially if the show didn’t have Eiji, the story would be actually better.

Attack on Titan S3 Episode 1 almost put me to sleep. Just wow, I thought it couldn't get any worse than Season 2.

"Consistency? Proper use of tropes we steal from? Logic? What the hell even are those?"

BANANA Fish could be great if it tried harder to turn down the wetness of their shoujo snatch and get back to the good shit.

No problem! I always pay attention to reviews about things I love, especially when they are so heartfeltly written. If you enjoyed Yamada's directing style, I'm sure you'll enjoy K-ON. It transforms what was supposed to be just a series about "cute girls drinking tea and eating cake" in something really sensible, full of subtle details and even emotional. The first season didn't grab my attention during the first episodes, but it really starts to show its potential during the last episodes. The second season is where we see K-ON's full potential, it's absolutely incredible.

Loved your review of Koe no Katachi! You've done a great job in expressing how you feel about this film, which is similar to how I do. If you haven't, I recommend checking out other works directed by Naoko Yamada. While they may not deal with themes as serious as Koe no Katachi, they're all sensible and relatable works. If you haven't watched K-ON but knows about it, you may be thinking "even K-ON is like that?" and I tell you "yes, even K-ON". Yamada's directing is so delicate, humane and full of subtleties that it's impossible to not fell in love with her style. Her works are very inspiring to me.
