My problem with it is that it seems to be just another "edgy" (I don't like to use this overused word, but it fits) show in the sense that it uses shocking/dark subjects just for the sake of it being shocking/dark. It doesn't say anything about the subject matter or have any depth in it ergo in my opinion is plain torture porn.

Of course I need to watch at least couple more episodes to be sure.

Should I start watching Darling in the FranXX? I love studio Trigger but it really seems like THE hype anime of the season/year, and i'm not usually very fond of those. I heard there's some netorare and I really don't like that, is it true :D?

Yes I love Spice And Wolf, it's thematically rich (microeconomics, portraits medieval life well, theology and problems of the church etc.) and it presents itself well (good animation, art and direction, great soundtrack). The witty interactions between Lawrence and Holo are always fun to watch.
