You'll find some nice subplots and side stories, as well as a few "romantic" teases as well. I just wish that some of the characters weren't one-and-done or so transparent in their appearances. And as you nailed things right on the head, seeing the failures lead to the successes is what shows like Aikatsu! are all about! I really have a thing for these kinds of progressive and relative shows. I say relative as in relative to personal experiences and lessons learned.

Sounds cool! Once I get my whole sim-racing fix sorted out and situated I'll turn my attention to the Japanese stuff. Nice, though I have an even greater gap than you with my last PS experiences stemming from the PS2. I haven't even touched a PS3 controller and only touched a PS4 controller once a few years back while randomly loitering around a GameStop in some shopping area.

As for what I'm looking forward to, I really haven't bothered to look at anything that can't be played (seriously) with a wheel and pedals. It's just like anime with me in that I look forward to nothing until it's arrived. I'll probably be riding on my brother and the general gaming public to inform me about games worth checking out.

I see. I don't remember Kotori's route to be mindblowing, just a few sad scenes here and there. Lucia's route is basically the best route in the game, in my honest opinion. If you decide to start out strong, Lucia's the way. Akane's route was also pretty cool, though, it's locked at first so you have to finish Chihaya's first — which lacked a great deal of romance, and the sad parts weren't sad enough (for me)!

Well, if you're not relying on an electronic dictionary and text hooker (unlike me), reading it in Japanese is always preferable. Just saying, the translation is fine. The anime adaptation is horrendous. Don't even bother.

Sure is, especially if they bust out any slang or accents! Nah, but I've seen IDs from places I'm not even the least bit familiar with. I guess you could say it's relatively ideal, but not something close to what you'd want as your lifelong job (unless you're managing).

Gundam is a lot more respectable from what I remember. The old ones from like the 90s look pretty cool too, being more traditional in how they were compsed with like the animation, colors, and stuff. I just mentioned Geass because most people have, at the very least, heard of it. Technically I'm anti-Geass as well.

Same exact way I saw Aikatsu! (the original)! The CG and whatnot took some time getting used to, but probably from late second-season on everything was on-point. And yet even then things were only starting to improve, especially with the choreography and the special effects in the backdrops for the performances. Thing is, if you're an Aoi fan like Veronin is then don't get your expectations too high for the latter half or third of the series. Still, she killed it as a police chief/officer! And damn, the Stars! version airing right now is just on another level in terms of its style and modern flair!

Free time is certainly hard to come by for those in school. Do let me know how that comes along, since I'm a little interested in picking up Japanese after I can get a few other things settled! Do you already have an older PS4? Or are you like me making an overdue return to console gaming?

I've only been to one of the other islands (Moloka'i back in 2009) and haven't been off this island since. I never really did think much about traveling to the other islands, as there isn't really much they have to offer other than pure solitude and a true country atmosphere. Anyway, I work on the retail side of Matsumoto's Shave Ice. Nothing too notable or high-paying... haha

Yes! The art is one of the great consistencies I respect with the entire LL series. It always looks clean and lively in its trademark design and uplifting character nuances. Funny how Sunrise can be so fabulous with these idol shows, yet I don't think much of them at all in the mecha realm. And yes, this is with all due respect to franchises like Gundam and Code Geass to name a few.

Oh, and I like the other Sunrise idol a lot in Aikatsu!. Either I'm a child at heart or whoever said or suggested that series was for children was lying pretty hard!

Anything you'd like to share on your end?

I ended up going with the English one. Luckily, Rewrite is "professionally" translated. Not by some teenager with English as their fourth or fifth language. I'm far from being fluent in Japanese, and Rewrite is a quite long visual novel, so reading it in English helps speed things up a bit.

About whether Rewrite is worth continuing or not — one word: yes. Not sure where you are, though. It's an incredibly creative and great story, and has some thought-provoking messages about our world and its future. Not to mention there's some good romance (Lucia's route in particular). It's entirely up to you, but I recommend finishing it.

Oh and twintails are cool, like, really cool.

Yeah, you should come back sometime when you can! I wouldn't call it the most ideal place to live with the islands being relatively small and somewhat limiting, but it's a more than ideal place to have a vacation or to relax and take in some clean air and water. I work in an area that's a hotspot for tourists, so I get to see all kinds of people coming through, most especially Japanese people and California residents.

The second season is still the high point of the series with all of the memorable moments, especially for your favorite character. As for Sunshine, I'm not completely sold on it after just this one season, as the girls have a lot more to do and grow from. I feel as if this was only a "setup" season, appetizer, or introductory offering. All in all, I enjoyed it and found myself grinning on a few occasions over the cuteness and fun on display.
StyleF1re Oct 24, 2016 7:30 PM
Yup. Most of them from a Samsung phone I kept around far too long... haha

You an idol (anime) fanatic too? How'd you like Sunshine compared to the main series?
Veronin Oct 19, 2016 3:53 PM
How did you know the title?!?! I swear I kept it secret.
Veronin Sep 8, 2016 6:16 PM
I'm considering going to Tokyo Game Show in a week or so, and this year's winter Comiket. I also want to have a full tour of Akihabara and go on a proper spending spree, since I only quickly dropped by there last night to pick up an adapter.

Other than that, the busy parts of Tokyo (Shinjuku and Shibuya especially) seem really cool, and I'd like to visit the city of Kyoto and maybe climb Mount Fuji some time before I go. Lots of cool stuff to do in Japan.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
