gdgd Fairies really is a one of a kind anime and so finding a similar show is difficult. I'd say the main appeal of gdgd though is the conversations between the three primary girls that take place. Based on this I'd say K-ON! could be a good alternative as this is also primarily driven by the conversations made by the female cast, although with K-ON! it is 4 girls which later grows to 5. The humour differs a fair bit but the overall tone in both is light-hearted and fun.

In terms of narrative structure the similarities are very apparent. The both focus on a primarily female cast with a problem that only impacts females and the story begins light-hearted and quickly takes a dark turn. They both also contain those big shocking moments that you wont see coming. Both of them share a non-absolute antagonist, with neither antagonist through the series being truly evil so to say. It's clear to me that WIXOSS was heavily inspired by Madoka Magica and the end result shows this. Not a bad thing at all though as both are fantastic shows and totally worth your time.

Same studio and a very similar slice of life feel to both shows. The big difference is that Lucky Star's comedy is very much geared towards otaku and geek culture whilst K-ON! uses more general humour that most people can understand. In that respect it appeals to a less niche audience whilst still complying to the great SOL structure Kyoto appear to have perfected,
