Honestly one of the most beautiful works of art I have ever seen. There is such great care in the detail of movement. The colour palet, character designs and setting composition make for a constantly visceral experience.
I became absorbed by the dedication to a time piece that truly feels like we have been transported to another world; yet one that is oddly familiar in which the audience can feel empathy for the characters and the hardships they face.
I appreciate that the show does not get overly caught up in the war aspects of the narrative even though it should be considered a 'rustic war themed
...
drama'. I disagree with the common sentiment that Violet is identical to Saber from Fate albeit similarities are shared. Violet develops drastically from the beginning of the narrative and becomes a fully fleshed out character in her own right.
The conclusion does come together rather hastily, the antagonists come off as something easy for the audience to dislike and cheer for the protagonists' victory over instead of dialing in on the theme of personal identity and self acceptance. If a war revival was truly the best way to wrap up this story I feel as though their presence should have been felt much sooner and could have allowed for some natural tension points as Violet risks her life to complete requests as she learns the importance of reflection.
