I'll say the laughing vampire, totally... it's my favorite work of Suehiro Maruo, and because it's more romantic than guro and then you can read Panorama Island <3 aww.. i think you should reading all XD

I just finished watching Serial Experiments Lain a few days ago, it blew me away. It's like, everything that I liked about all the anime I rated 10/10, combined into one show, jam-packed into 12 episodes. I'm going to have to watch it again when I find time to do so.

Oh my goodness gracious, I just noticed you asked me to recommend you a cute anime!! Go watch Nurse Witch Komugi-chan; it has character design by pre-sellout Poyoyon Rock, voice acting by legendary seiyuu Momoi Haruko, and esoteric high level otaku culture funny jokes!!

i put in a lot of hard work learning a language primarily so that i could make that funny joke

it is nice that someone finally appreciate the effort i put into my craft

I have seen some of Evangelion and it did not interest me. Narrative media does not generally hold my interest and in my opinion (with Evangelion being no exception from what I have seen) the Japanese tend to be notoriously ham-fisted in the manner in which they approach creating a serious work.
My favourite thing is anime is self-referential moe meta-commentaries.
