I was bullish on this show at first, but it's disappointed me somewhat. Take the simple excitement of a decent American thriller/suspense film, make it into an anime, and this is what you get, but the pacing and production suffer a lot, and there's no conclusive ending, as it seems it'll just keep going. That and the resolution of this first arc was disappointing. The OP and ED are quite good and the voice acting is solid. One thing this show does well is to have a clear guy to root for with a simple goal, and you get to wonder how he will get himself to that end, see how he frees himself and his family from the mess they've found themselves in. The details get rough, but the idea was refreshing at first for an anime. While not great, this show was still ignored more than it probably deserved, especially given so many wrote it off right away before it reached its major issues.
Great review, I agree 100% on your points. This show was my biggest disappointment this season, not to say that it was all bad. It had a lot of potential with its premise but it just kinda fell flat and didn't do anything too exciting with it. I did hear the manga was a bit better though so I might end up checking that out.
Nice to meet you, thanks for accepting my FR btw. :3
