Yo

I just like anime, I've been actively watching since about 2008 for more niche shows in this hobby. My first exposure to anime was with One Piece on Toonami somewhere between 2005 and '06. I used to keep a paper list but I eventually found the motivation to move the list to the internet, thus this.

I would say my taste is split between the good garbage I like and the elitist shit where everyone shits on each other for hierarchy in terms of intellectual superiority, which is ironic considering the hobby.

I can handle anything genre in anime with the exception of BL and NTR.

Junji Ito is my kryptonite, I respect his work, but fuck man I can not fuck with his shit.

I like building computers, baking, soldering, anime, manga, photography, speaking Japanese (cause fuck kanji), and creek fishing.

Part of the whole computer ordeal is building Plex servers, so much of the list acts just as a catalogue for which series I want to collect, in other words the ones that are bought or have buy next to them are what I would recommend.

In terms of food I like everything except cold asparagus.

For music I like female vocals with a vocal range somewhere between alto and tenor, Aimer and Egoist are good examples of what I mean.

My personality type is INTJ and I am a neo-libertarian
[Politics shouldn't have a hold on interpersonal relations, but given the current state of affairs I'd rather have my position stated, so you can sort me out before interacting]

So that's me!

Food for thought: If the we humans perceive the world as approximations and not as atomized as things actually are, wouldn't that mean reality is an assumption. There is no standardized perception cause there are no standardized thoughts, so common sense isn't so common. To me this means there is no reality, nor is there a common mind in this world; we are all truly stranded in our own minds doomed to be alone no matter how many physically surround us, but it is the individual that must decide whether or not this cruel fate is in fact cruel or the blessing that allows us to be individuals.

Edit (1/12/2022): New genre I realize I dislike. "Riajuu-ke" I don't know of an established term for this anime type, so I just made a name up for it. The name is a mix of the Japanese slang for normie "Riajuu" (more accurately defined as riearu de jujitsu shiteru, or fulfilled IRL) and "ke" meaning type as in iyashi-ke. With the medium of anime becoming more of a genre than a separate group of weirdos watching "Chinese cartoons" it seems that the market has shifted to more widely targeted works that capture a more "normal" audience. It is hard to put into words how to identify these series but their is a very distinct feeling that they give you, as if you feel pandered to but you aren't the target of pandering. Anyway from now on when I drop one of these series I will label them as "Riajuu-ke" as to distinguish for those who may like the sub-genre.

How to use my list for recommendations:

-avoid all series that say "(not worth watching)" This means that even though I enjoyed the show enough to finish it, it wasn't fun enough to leave a lasting impression

-even my low scored series are still shows that i enjoyed but their scores are relative to the best shows I have watched (For example If I watched an anime that totally eclipsed all the anime on my list that anime alone would have the rank of 10 and all other anime would be pushed down a rank)

-the ones you see that I'm contemplating buying are series are my personal favorites (This list is mainly for recommending shows to others so the discrepancy between my collection and what I recommend are strictly due to me wanting to be able to recommend show more effectively)

-the dropped tab is more so you can see if you agree with my taste to the extent that my list could be useful for you (I don't really agree with MAL's rating system as you would never watch a show that that was appalling till the end, my dropped section acts as a marker for shows that weren't engaging enough to even allow me to watch to the end).
