not to mention the price of indivudal manga has gone up. remember when that stuff used to always be 9.99 per volume? now it can range anywhere between 10~13.99 for the same size. Like I think OP is still 9.99 per vol, but most else were higher. gotta' look out for those deals on amazon, i suppose.

if anything, blame NA's taste for certain series not being continually serialized. cuz really if the fans don't show support then the businesses won't either. it's really up to us. and yeah it does hurt. luckily, most of the manga i collected is complete. i never really paid attention to any of that years ago, but definitely do now.

ah okay so they were the publisher publishing lone wolf and cub + samurai executioner. good stuff.

Toarujisuru Aug 4, 2015 12:47 PM
truly, shounen series go far and wide in length. even tegami bachi is gonna' wrap up at near 20 volumes. it's a big investment. :<

viz has a pretty big tendency to pull out and not complete a series if it isn't selling well. i don't blame them from a business stand point, but as a fan it's disappointing. i like dark horse. have they ever published a long running series? who published samurai executioner, vagabond, and lone wolf and cub?

Thanks. The reason why most are complete is because most shoujo manga that gets english localizations are usually a reasonable length to collect. Usually anywhere between 5~15 volumes. Usually nothing more. Kimi ni Todoke is past 20 volumes and still ongoing, though. And my seinen stuff is normally just 1~3 volumes long except for Ai Yori Aoshi.

I don't buy too much at once anymore. I used to, lol. I still remember how ballsy it was of me to spend an entire two weeks paycheck on Otomen Volumes 1~8 and Koukou Debut Volumes 1~8 as well while only looking at 'em briefly before buying. I ended up really likin' em, thankfully. Hey man ya never know. The future is always open. Hell I would have never imagined Franken Fran or Prison School getting mangas over here in NA, but here they come. 8)

Gotcha'. I'll always remember that. Franchises can be tricky.

My collection is a mixture of seinen and shoujo, haha. I don't really buy/read much shounen stuff. I've got a wide array of manga.

Franken Fran english manga publish comes out next year which I'm very excited for. breathes heavily.

I don't usually look too deeply into series. At least any further than the series wants me to see. It does look flashy. I just hope it makes sense. I don't want more questions than answers.

Oh, that's a good one. Kinda lengthy. I hope it's good. The characters look pretty cool too. Alright, I'll add Eureka 7, thanks! Yeah, I'm aware of Unicorn being great. I probably won't start it so early on in my mecha journey. I do enjoy older animes though. Like I finished Ashita no Joe S1 and that aired in 1970s, lol. Hmmm, the oldest mecha I've watched aside from Gunbuster was a few eps of Macross. Getter Robo may be a possibility for me.

Very action oriented collection. Vinland Saga is in hard cover, isn't it? A pretty nice collection ya got there. :)

Oh god, I wasn't even aware of that. Blegh. Haha.

I dropped it because I kept noticing the drop in quality each episode with the story. Safe to say I saved myself the effort and laugh every time I hear it was bad. I still have to try out Star Driver. Those masquerade masks yo. I might include it in the month of October. I plan on devoting that entire month to starting and finishing mecha. I wanna find another one I like as much as Gunbuster. Maybe even something I can rate a 9 or 10. I pray I do. Got a suggestion? I already have FMP, Macross, and Gundam 08th Squadron listed.

That's the typical answer. Yup. So what's your manga collection look like? Is Vagabond in your collection?

Yeah, NGNL didn't even heavily play into it in an overly affection kinda way, which was fine, but it was still there. Very clearly. Yeah, Miyuki is so great at her abilities within the school. To see her so obsessed over Tatsuya Shiba is a little jarring.

Glad ya liked it. Screams out, "COACHIE!!! Trust me when I say this. Watch the sequel. I personally feel like Gunbuster > Diebuster, but it had a great ending. Took me completely by surprise. Yeah, it was the bare minimum w/ 6 episodes, but for just those 6 episodes it did its job really well. I actually liked how you saw Noriko train to become a pilot. Like remember Captain Earth? MC was automatically able to pilot that shit for no fucking reason without any prior experience. Ugh. At least with Reiji from GBF he had the mobility and talent to do so.

Lmao. RIP. #ded

I dislike when that happens too, but I like owning the physical copies. I only really hate how long it takes to publish 'em. Usually takes awhile. Really tho it's a blessing that we're able to read manga for free and I think most people take it for granted even with fansubbers doing it off of their own free time.

Lmao, yeaaaah. It really was. It doesn't help that most people who enjoyed it enjoyed it solely because of him, haha. I personally prefer characters who struggle over ones that are already great at stuff. Idk if their uniforms have anything to do with designs when you said that. I really like their school uniforms, lol. His design is rather plain, though. He's only a bit taller than most MCs. The usual siscon thing. It's a big disappointment I tell ya. Can't go a LN without seeing it. Even NGNL had it. I remember I tried out the Psycome LN and not even 3 paragraphs in the little sister licked some cream off the MCs face. I'm like.. *sigh* *puts my phone down* I'm done.

Oh shiiit. You finished Top wo Nerae! Gunbuster. Good shit, good shit.

If only the HxH mangaka wasn't always on hiatus these days, haha. This site is really great for reading LNs. You can even DL their app off the Google Play Store. Their stuff is pretty limited, though. Due to the fact that in recent years more and more LNs have been selling well in North America and once it gets licensed they take the content down from the site. Check the abandoned section to see what they used to translate, but gave up due to licensing. NGNL is one of 'em unfortunately, however, you may still be able to find translations of it available. I'd search for something like "No game no life translations" on Google and try to find a direct source for translations. I've seen some LNs licensed and taken down from baka tsuki yet are still being translated directly from another site.

I read a bit of the LN, but mostly the manga for Mahouka. It was kind of enjoyable, but there was no real end goal in sight which was a bit disappointing, though, the setting for magic and science to co-exist was kinda neat. I tried watching the anime, though, and I didn't watch past episode 1. I was already convinced it was garbage and sure enough it was. Haha, I love being right.

True that. Madhouse seldomly ever does. Diamond no Ace and Chihayafuru must've been somethin' else. It's probably gotten more seasons because more than just 1 studio handled it. If it's just Madhouse alone most likely not. I would like that too. Have you considered reading the LNs in the future to find out?

I'm watching a lot. Most recently I started Princess Tutu. A great shoujo anime thus far. I'm about half way to completing it.
