I didn't realize I liked Anime until September 12, 2014. At 19 years old. It's a shame it took so long to find out. I mean, I had seen five Ghibli movies like Castle in the Sky and really liked those (Plus Pokemon), but I didn't see anymore than that. No, not even Dragon Ball. Sword Art Online convinced me of the greatness of anime (Some people really hate SAO lol). I'm pretty familiar with anime by this point.
Exactly coinciding with my discovery of anime, I made the insane decision to learn Japanese. Easily one of the greatest decisions of my life. I will be unquestionably be fluent one day. Currently I'm at an advanced level. To that end, I watch anime raw, and all my manga is in Japanese. Of course there are other reasons I have for knowing Japanese, especially now living in Japan, but this is an anime site.
I gladly took 6 1/2 years to catch up with One Piece, but that's only because it was worth it. The shows I drop are a result of me going as far as I'm willing to (I might come back though). It's not necessarily that I don't like them, there are just SO MANY other things to watch. Like I love Fairy Tail and all, but after 100 episodes...
And Naruto is okay but have you seen how many episodes... yeah no
This world is finite you know.
By the way, my username 'Hikoukigumo' is the ending song of The Wind Rises.

So you're watching Gintama that's great.
Well let me give you an advice.
Just for the information.
The first Episodes and the following first Episodes can be quite average.
I know that it can be for many people. So maybe for you as well.
But it will improve a lot afterwards.
So I hope you will keep on watching Gintama.
