I only rated the show this high because I understand that it is buildup to a second season. If it doesn't get a second season, then the show is a dud. If it doesn't get a season 2, then consider the rating a 5.

The main character Kumoko is literally a living meme. I enjoy her internal monologues and I think the game elements are decent as far as game elements go. There are times where she survives when she shouldn't, noticeable plot armor is noticeable, but it is fun. That's what the show is meant to be, fun.

The B side ... story with Shun and friends is slower on the buildup, and at times downright boring, but it does make me appreciate the time with Kumoko even more. Shun and Co. is where the plot progresses, mostly.

Art wise; there is some noticeable CGI, but it's not the worst I've ever seen. Take that with a grain of salt though; my anime guilty pleasure is late 80s and 90s anime, and the CG in some of those can be bad. Put it this way. It's not Vandread bad.

I'd recommend it, but again, contingent on a season 2.

TL;DR This series is mediocre at best. The character relations feel forced. The art and animation is okay but nothing spectacular. The plot progression is whack. The show is mindless, and I really only kept watching because eyepatch-chan (aka Carsa Kurnoah) is best girl.

This show didn't deserve a longer review for why it's so bad, but this site wants me to explain it more in depth, so here we go.

Things just happen for the sake of it, and no real reason is given. The MC is very OP, not bad in itself, but he doesn't have personality or ... quirks unlike some OP MCs like say Saitama. The twins feel like a drag; they are shoehorned so the MC has a side piece.

The race relations should have been fleshed out more beyond just "hurr durr demons bad, hurr durr mixed blood demons inferior, hurr durr royals da best. It's all very superficial.

The show would benefit greatly from the story being fleshed out more or from slice of life elements being introduced.

The magic system is all over the place and doesn't follow it's own rules because the MC is so powerful, but only when it suits the story.

Will I watch season 2? Probably, but not because I expect it to be good. It's like watching a B movie. It has certain themes that I enjoy, and therefore makes for a night of mindless entertainment.

I really don't know what Disney was thinking when they thought it was a good idea to make this. Doing a review of this manga without spoilers is impossible because the story can be summed up in the synopsis paragraph.

Story 2:
The setting is what I assume to be the 2nd or 3rd movie. We learn from the first page that Toroy (a mistranslation of Troy) is dissatisfied with his father because he expects him to play basket ball even though he doesn't want to, but does so anyway because he's good at it. After that we see all the basketball players cheering ... because they won the basketball championship. Then we are introduced to Gabrielle and learn that she is Toroy's girlfriend and that she was accepted into Stanford, and Toroy was accepted to Albuquerque to play basketball to live his father's dream. It then ends a celebration and Toroy saying that they are graduating soon. But with only 10 pages (7 of which is the actual "story") the story is basically nonexistent.

Art 8:
This is the strong point of the manga. Asabuki Mari has done wonderful work with the art, and it's a shame that it was wasted on rubbish like this.

Characters 2:
Toroy is the main character, but his development is nonexistent. He plays basketball because his father is living his dreams through him.

Gabriella is Toroy's girlfriend which is all we know about her apart from the fact that she was accepted into Stanford.

Chad is a character who's only appearance is on page 5 where we see him congratulating Toroy.

Toroy's father is an unseen character who is living out his dream through his son because he was apparently unable to do so himself.

Enjoyment 3:
There really wasn't much to enjoy about manga, but the art certainly contributed to it.

Overall 4:
After finding the average score for all the categories I came up with the 3.75 which I rounded to 4 because I'm only allowed to use a solid number as a score. Just because I gave the series a 4 doesn't mean anything though. The art is the only reason it has the score it does, and as such I cannot recommend this to anybody.
