both seem to be very innocent looking during the start, but took a dark twist towards the middle of the story. had a very similar premise as well. sadism towards young schoolgirls

...then you might like Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon add

literally ALMOST the same concept.a typical comedy slice of life story blends with an fantasy genre. a geeky MC meets an upbeat dragon living in an urban modern town, they became close friends. and more dragons also appear as the story progresses. (there are some perverted ecchi/fanservices in Dragon maid, but in The Dragon Next Door there's no fanservices/ecchi at all)

...then you might like Shinseiki Evangelion add

Both are about an ongoing war againts Aliens. Children piloting mechs to fight Aliens, Similar premise and location setting (both are set in an city at the near future),the military are creating plans to fight off the Aliens ("Angels" in Evangelion),Adults showing no mercy to children. Evangelion and Qko chan both also has an coming of an age theme, but Qko chan doesn't have unnecessary religious symbolisms like Evangelion did

Similar themes: An extraterrestrial lifeform (Aliens in Qko-chan and Dragons in Narutaru) lands on earth,The Main protagonists are kids or young teens that met extraterrestrial creatures that they pilot or ride to fight on the war,Emotionally unstable kids,The military is creating plans to fight the aliens and win the war(Although, in Narutaru, Humans are controlling the Aliens), Adults showing no mercy to children (they don't mind hurting children),and many more.. Qko-chan is a bit less violent to Narutaru though.

Both Protagonists are forced to do something that they don't want to Both Protagonists has almost the same personality Starts out fine and generic in the early episodes, gets darker at the later episodes Aliens. Both of them have it. And, The last episodes of NGE and Alien 9 are both dissapointing for the viewers XD (not counting the End of Evangelion)
