This was a very pleasant surprise.

Normally, idol shows have an idol plot and that's it. But this one has a plot by it's own, outside of the idol thing. It is a mystery sorrounding a crime in which a robot killed a human. And with that premise, they did a veeeeery good story involving everything they show us in every episode (so, in the end, there are no filler episodes, even if you might think that way ).

The songs are amazing (and obviously they had to be, because Elements Garden is behind them xD) so not just the main plot is good, the music is ... also good. And if you like the anime, there is a game that apparently starts just when the anime ends so... great!!

I hate when a manga become this popular because people's expectations went too high or worse: author's or editor's expectation's change.
Is the ending rushed? Yes. Is it author's or editor's fault? We'll never known, but, Tokyo Revengers pace was pretty good until the fame show up. Then everything felt weird and without a cause. Like in some point the story that was originally settled changed. I think the author wanted a very different ending but *something* pushed him to do what we had.

Nevertheless, I discovered this manga in 2019, I think, when Black Dragon's arc was ending or so. And I loved it. The story ... was simple, but likeable thanks to the characters and the cool action. It was enjoyable, not a masterpiece, but I was every week waiting for it, trying to guess what will happen, who was behing everything, who was the true villain (if it was one). Lots of questions remained silent by the end of the manga and I really hope they make a spin-off with everything that happened between 277 and 278 chapters.

But for me, this manga was special. It was the first time I was willing to read a chapter every week, reading it in japanese if I had to because translations were slow. I had the oportunity to share my thoughts with two good friends of mine because they ended reading it too and I had a great time thinking and doing my own theories.

I understand people hating it because the ending, but I enjoyed this manga very much. If they do what I said, it could be one of the best mangas I ever read.

As for people who want to read it now without knowing anything... keep in mind that the ending is rushed and that there are lost events: things that happened and they never talked about it anymore. Some events are questionable and you could feel like other things happened for nothing. So I would say you should read this manga only if you are not going to take it very seriously, because if you do, you might hate it in the end...

I'm going straight to the point: this is VERY Shounen Jumpish.
We have a tsundere main character with a cool design, a tragic past and an unstoppable wish to fight strong people. He joins to the worst school in Shibuya just for fighting all the banchou in there, but surprise: this bad guys are heroes that save the day of the place they live from real banchou.

The best thing about the manga is the art, without doubts. The rest is a bunch of Shounen Jump cliché one after another, from characters to story. It seems like Tokyo Revengers had such an impact that Shounen Jump had ... to do his own banchou manga, but with all their usual cliché xD

I don't know how much it'll long, I'll keep reading it, hoping something gets me by surprise but I don't think that'll happen.

It has potential. But that's it.

You have 5 basic protagonist. They have a story but it's a very light one, they never enter into details or characters episodes in which they struggle because of something in particular (except for the main character). There are hints of a deep story in them but it's never told (Ikazuchi with his childhood friend, for example). They used the episodes only for battles with random monsters and that's just sad. You can't relate with them (even tho they have a very good design and a decent base).
And when you think they could do better with them, suddenly, 5 more ... guys make theis appearance in the show. If the main protagonists are basic and have just a little backgound story you can imagine this other 5 guys... we barelly get to known their names and that's it (except for one of them because he's related with the main character, but we only get to know a briefly part of that story, so...)

And about the story, it's just chaotic. The first 28 episodes are the typical "let's fight this one chapter monster!" and, well, it's ok. We have a bad guy, we have a motivation... but then episode 28 happens and everything stop making sense. I'll not do a spoiler, but they waste 7 episodes for an irrelevant plot that could be fixed in just 2 and the last 2 chapters are the final battle, in which we see things that doesn't make any sense with the previous information that we had.

This show was like someone wrote the first 28 and then another person that doesn't know anything about the show made the rest of them looking for something, anything, to complete de 38 episodes.
