How to Get Into Fate:

Ideally, start with Fate/Stay Night Visual Novel but patched so you can read it in English and then the Fate/ZeroLight Novel, I would recommend the Fate/Zero Light Novel over the anime because the anime has some subtle differences to the Light Novel that contradict the Visual Novel as well.
If you can't be bothered to read, check this for my recommendations on the anime watch order
Hollow Ataraxia, a pseudo-sequel to all 3 routes of Fate/Stay Night, can be read/played at any time after all 3 routes in the Visual Novel or their anime adaptations. I'd recommend playing it after Zero, although it was released first, because it isn't spoiled by Zero and it comes last in the timeline, giving it a more satisfying conclusion. Decensor patch here. (Can't find the original file after the youtube link hosting it went down, so only the patches are linked. Check what sound a Japanese cat makes I guess)
Spin-offs can be watched in any order, except for those that are directly stated to be sequels to other spin-offs.

Yh the humor is so bad. I would always recommend the manga over the garbage anime but that's just so you can cut through the crap faster and get to the good stuff. Maybe toward the second half of the first Dragon ball(not Z)

Higu's adaptation is apparently pretty divisive, but surprisingly every VN reader I know here has the anime at a 10. The Umi anime seems universally hated tho.

Manga does seem to be a much better medium for VN adaptations I guess. Most people love the Tsukihime and Umi manga

Yeah, there's also that weird amusement park part and Sacchin still being alive (which the manga did too, but eh). Shiki and Arc were also weirdly cold to each other for most of it.

I am looking forward to the Umineko anime tho since I've heard people say it's worse than Tsuki's

definitely a distant future

not only is higurashi long as hell but i have it and Umi in Japanese
so it'll be a big pair of fish to tackle

(half-coping) thats part of the reason im holding it back some time
the better I get at japanese with easier stuff the easier a time it'll be for the harder VNs

I know a decent amount of people who really love them umineko and higurashi vns

I normally only play eroge but I had a great time reading 3 of the Steins;Gate visual novels (and i guess doki doki literature club is Ok) and everyone always goes on about how much they love some of these non-eroge vns so I wanna give em a go one day
