Isekais coming in thick and fast. We all know the drill, each and every season there is bound to be one that'll fall flat on it's face, but then there will be one that will be enjoyed and liked for it's good characterization, or just general down right fun. Now where does this one rank? Let me explain!
Story and characters: 8
To best describe the characters, would be quirky. Which adds so much to these shows, as if they seemingly knew what they were doing when they decided on making this show. As if it were a generic hero, or least generic ways to get where
...
one needs to be. Then it wouldn't be enjoyable as is. But what really helps with this story's presentation, and certain characters, is the vibe AROUND them. To explain, you have the main character in Usato, who can be seen as generic and common. But then you pair him with someone that has a great character in Rose, then you've got a better match, as Rose brings much more out of Usato, which makes it more entertaining as a result. The same can be said for the three heroes. Kazuki and Usato could seem plain, but then you pair Suzune with them, and she adds a bit more quirkiness that makes it stand out more. She reminds me of Akemi from Dumbbell. It's not these characters are bad, far from it, but more thanks to these unique ones, they're fleshed out a bit more.
Which then I follow this up on context of the story. Like, you take how this started, and it could come across as any regular Isekai, but then you have Rose's entrance, and the attention of it goes up a notch. Which makes the show that much more enjoyable. Characters like Rose will carry this anime further than expected.
Art and sound: 7
Can't say anything wrong with it, it does it's job in both departments, and does it well. I'd say that you can tell there is not only some fun in is, but a great attempt in order to make it look well polished and great attention to detail to boot. Everything flows nicely, everything seems enjoyable, everything seems fit for purpose. Something you'd want in an anime. While it's not breathtaking, or super stand out in the slightest, but what it does, is does it's job.
Honestly, a fun Isekai, that deserves some spotlight. If it keeps going well, it'll be a well liked show for sure. I'd give it a watch.

Don't you just love daft anime?
The sort of anime that'll come into a season, make some noise, but the sort of noise that's goofy, fun, but with a slight hint of seriousness on top of it. Even if the direction of such, isn't serious to a point. But the overall theme of the anime, more than makes up for it.
Story and characters: 8
The story is where it shines a lot. Like I really love how it starts, making you think it's something completely different, only to throw in a funny curve ball, which makes for a good laugh. Setting up for a solid product. Maple
...
would be so proud of this show, as why not grill and eat any monster you come across? Surely they aren't carrying all sorts, and are going to cause you more harm than good right? But what also makes the story is shine, is the casting. For a show of this nature, you need a solid casting that'll mesh well together, to make the show stand on it's own two feet. Something of which you have here.
You can have one being the 'hero' while being the most weird out of the group. You can have the girl, be the most 'normal' of the group, but through her reactions, it adds much more to the comedic relief of the show's story, and so much more. Making Dungeon Meshi a fun blast from start to finish. If anything you'll remember this season for, is how goofy eating monsters truly is.
Art and sound: 8
What I really dig is the really massive up in quality when it comes to it's presentation. Certain scenes look really good when displayed, as if a duty of care was put into this, and it clearly shows. Really capturing the movements, and the atmosphere super well, while throwing in a great performance from the VAs, as you can tell they really had fun with this. A well done performance on both ends for sure.
The anime is goofy fine, with a side dish of idiotic fun. A blast for sure.

You know. I'm actually surprised.
When you first hear of Chained Soldier at first, you may be thinking of what an interesting concept, but as you dig deeper, you learn how things work, and it really makes you question what in the hell you signed yourself up for. Not to paint it in a negative light, as that wasn't the intention. But you throw in an interesting story base, interesting line of colourful cast of characters. Then you throw the most anime like thing into the mix, in terms of it's system of power. As if like the Powerpuff girls, you've got the perfect ingredients, then
...
you add something extra by mistake. Which doesn't harm the show, far from it, more that this show will get odd looks at first, but then you actually watch it, and then you'll see that...
...It's not that bad.
Story and characters: 7
As stated in my opening, that I do feel where the show will shine most, is through it's colourful cast of characters. Each with their own fitting personality. Sure, it can seem as if each one just follows a common trope, which isn't surprising at all, but the contrast of meshing well together with each other, does wonders for the overall entertainment value. While I will admit, it is very weird. Very, very weird. But it can be a nice looking action filled anime, that'll give you enjoyment in this Winter season.
What will really take the kicker, is the story of Chained Soldier, and depending how the show goes, will be the make or break of this anime. At the start, I said I was surprised. Because you can read thoughts, or listen to opinions of what this product is about, but then you'll be pleasantly surprised that it's more tame than expected. Sure, it still fills that theme, and very much so. But if you may be expecting something over the top with it, it's not the case, which may make it more fine to experience, for those who aren't a fan of the genre even.
As for more inner details of the story. While it can be weird, but there are some daft moments in there, along with some interesting moments that'll more likely carry it to a solid success. While it won't be anime of the season. But is it a good story? I'd say so.
Art and sound: 8
I feel like this is also where it shines best. The colours really do suit the anime so well. Certain areas and themes will look smashing, where it be in a much more lighter context, or times where it needs a much more dark touch. The quality in this department clearly shows, and it shows good. Follow that up with a good quality of sounds, and you've got a show, that's good looking, and easy on the ears to boot. The sort of quality you want your decent seeming anime to be like.
Chained Soldier will be a hit for sure, not a massive one, but it'll make it's mark, and be one of the more better animes of the season, even if it's middle of the range. It's not massively impressive by any stretch, but it's a decent anime, that deserves a try.

There is a way of doing shows, you either come out with a bang, or you go creative wit it, or you miss the ball completely. As for this show, it's going in a creative direction for sure, and if it stays on that path, it may turn out to be a good watch.
Story and characters: 7
Normal animes will present to you a main character, set the scene, and then we're off to the races with what comes next, as follow them and their journey. This one has done something different. It reminds me of Restaurant to another World in it's opening stages. Instead of
...
these episodes being episodic in sense of it's general direction. Instead while we get the Scene set, and focus. It seems so far, each main focused character, has gotten their own moment to shine, as if to really flesh out the world and it's landscape. Which I find really well done. It's a different way to present the cast members, and gives a different reason to care about said characters, and will give someone a particular character to root for.
As for the story itself, it's kinda like if you had finished a certain anime, then are going in with the afters. Which is another key reason to like the show. We always would like to see what happens next, but some shows just end, without giving us a follow up. But this will feel like we are. Long as it stays on track, it can be good.
Art and sound: 6
It's a mixed bag for me here. While there is some brilliant looking art, and presentation, that not only set the scene, but really show how good it can look. Along with a very well done sound quality, to really set the tone, and act like there is some care given there. But there is times where certain qualities are that do take away some points from it, and take you out of the moment when you notice it more. Not that it looks bad, there are times where it can look real good in context.
Despite the off seeming art in places, it's a solid start. The only trouble will be, is if they can keep it up. If they do, it'll be a solid show for the season. If not, then it'll be mostly forgettable by the seasons end. A good show, but you can see how one wouldn't enjoy it, but I'd give it a chance first, to see what you think.

Still surprises me to this day, that a show like this can get an anime, as it really stretches the line of what is an anime, or what is direct 'hen' I say this, as one who has read the manga of this series, and seeing the reactions, sitting there and cringing like 'Mmmm, you haven't seen nothing yet LOL.' But what makes the show enjoyable, is for a different number of reasons, of which I will explain.
Story and characters: 8
The characters, the more you dive into them, are one of the core reasons as to why this show can be good. As lets face
...
it, a show can be as hardcore as it wants to be, or it can be in a particular field. But if the characters are as boring as dishwater, then your story isn't gonna hit high marks, as none would really care about it's contents. None are gonna watch the million common isekai, if the protag is just a carbon copy of another, with zero interest. Not to say these characters we are presented with in this show are top tier, and super interesting. But they're certainly far from common trash.
Take Utena for example. She could've just been a usual trope within her character, but as the show progresses, you'll see more of her character grow and expand. Which will drive the interest futher. The development of the cast is what makes it stand on its toes, and the more it expands, the more good it will come. Not to mention the same could be said regarding other cast members, they're not here for shock value, there is a story behind them, and we'll learn more about them as we go along.
As for the story itself, well, it's different.
One of the key reasons I took interest in this series, is that it's a different kind of genre. You could see a dozen of magical girl shows, but where can you see one, where we're following the VILLAIN of the story?? To me, that's a nice change from the regular formula. Not that other shows don't have high interest on their bad guys, but with how this show is presented, it adds in interest value from that perspective.
Art and sound: 8
Here is another example of where the show truly shines. The art direction, and sound department, do an amazing job in really presenting how it looks, and how it sounds. With how it's coloured and presented, like you'll see an actual thought and care given to it's contents, to make it really stand out. Making it seem as if it's not just here for the risky content, the people behind this really wanted to make it look, and sound good too. Which only gives more pluses to the anime itself.
Would I rate this show highly due to my bias? Yes. Would I call it risky, and understand it's not for everyone? Yes. But what it is, is a fun product, that I'm sure, will cause problems, but for those who enjoy it, will have a blast.

If you're looking for a show, that doesn't beat around the bush. Dangles bait right in front of your noses, and you only hope that it would pull the trigger on it's contents. Then this is the show for you.
Let's face it, we've seen a bunch of shows, where it's always followed in the same path. Same direction. You more likely could count how many people played these sorts of games in order to romance a prince, or one of the hot dudes. But this one is different. Not only is our MC in Rae attracted to the girl, but she's attracted to the supposed
...
'bad guy/girl' of the game itself. Which adds even more extra layers on top of it. But what it brings, is a nice fresh change, as it's very open with it, and it's contents. You'll have shows that take so many episodes to truly establish that these two are in love, or least put te idea of it into action. But in this case, it's declared day 1, and it's not going to stop any time soon, and I love it.
Rae won't for sure let it happen, and I fully support it 100%. From supporting her herself, to supporting her lesbian relationship goals to the fullest. Something of which that we all hope she fully achieves.
Story and characters: 9
The story explains itself, but what makes it stand out above others, is what it is. Rae for sure isn't Katarina, as she already knows what she wants, and she won't stop till she finally hears those words of 'I love you' from the one she loves. It's as if the story is trying to go in the direction that the game normally is, but then Rae is doing her damnest to flip the script, in order for her desired love to come true. As the story contents, can come off as your usual, established school, established top dogs, and lesser people. Along with a magic system to boot. With desired love interests, that you can love if you trigger certain events of the story. To which throw all of that in the bin, as our dear Rae only wants one thing, and one thing only.
Claire.
What makes the story engaging is that in itself. Not just the yuri ship in general, but the thought of how the story will differ thanks to what Rae is trying to do. Which adds an extra layer of enjoyment and engagement when it comes to this show. As you've already got the drama and suspense from it normally, but it's almost as if you've unlocked a secret pathway, and you're learning everything new piece by piece, and you cannot wait to see more and more. From it's engaging characters, from Rae herself, Claire herself, the princes, Misha, and so much more. It's worth a watch for sure.
Art and sound: 9
Can I just scream on how beautiful the art quality is? I know I'm a sucker for details, but the lightning and colouring is really top notch in so many scenes. From how they look in day time, to how they look in night. It just looks that good, Not to mention the flow of the animation itself, it all blends together to make such a great looking product. You throw that in with a brilliant sound quality, and you've got a really good looking, and sound product to enjoy all round.
As one who loved the manga, I love the anime, and RaeClaire is a top tier ship that is just a lovely product that I hope more enjoy.

Gag humor types of animes can really be hit or miss. Depending the quality of contents, and if the jokes will fall flat over time. If your show isn't funny, then it's going to be a chore to get through. But what makes this show stand out a little more than the rest, is it's style and cuteness.
Story and characters: 7
The story mainly revolves around Witches and magic, and one day, a witch by name of Alyssa, finds an abandoned baby, and decides to take it and raise it. Insert usual fun loving gag humor right after these sweet moments, and we're in
...
for nothing but randomness from here, toppled with actual serious lore, that may come up in the future, but with the way it's done, it progresses nicely, so you enjoy the characters, and if it slaps you with a serious moment, you'll least care about the outcome.
Alyssa is a very kind soul, while trying her best to be the best mom she can be. While her supposed daughter Viola, is very expressive, and very childish to boot. It's a very sweet relationship. These two are backed up by a colourful cast of characters that are there to enjoy. Such as Alyssa's two witch friends, as one reminds me a bit of Sucy from Little Witch, while the other...Lmao. Once you learn about the other, you'll realize what type of character she is haha. But it's a good line of characters that'll take the show far.
The only issue so far, is overused of certain gags, which in long run, might get a little tiring. It may be funny at first, but being a couple of episodes in, and it still hasn't changed, it may fall flat if said for the dozenth time.
Art and sound: 8
I think there is a lot to appreciate when it comes to it's art direction. Like Alyssa's eyes for example, they look gorgeous, and really make her overall look stand out. But the overall look to the whole show in it's concept looks stunning in it's colours, and animation. Really taking into a care for detail, and it's works. If anything, no matter what, you can't fault that this is a nice looking show, that is well presented in it's art style. Not to mention going super well with it's sound desgin.
Dekoboko is a sweet show that is more than welcomed in this anime season. It won't knock you away, but it doesn't need to. Sometimes you need that kind of sweet fun show, to go along with your deep and intense kind of shows. A watch for sure.

Well this certainly was a trip.
If you looking for a proper Dark Fantasy itch, then you have come to the right place. The kind that really makes it out as if humanity truly is boned. As if it's not going to survive at all, unless these drastic measures are taken place, and even then, it's not for certain. Which is the most scary thing of all.
Story and characters: 7
As said at the start, yeah. Things aren't looking great at all, and seemingly will end even worse. Which can make this a bit of an underdog story in parts, but is it really? When even
...
as we progress, are we truly following the good side? Are things even gonna work at all? There are so many questions, which will draw so many viewers in with it's content, that'll just want more and more. Sure, it takes a good moment to fully get engaged, but once you are hooked, you're really hooked.
Lets face it, this show is really carried by it's other cast members than the MC Ragna themselves. Not that Ragna is a bad character, more that far other characters stand out for obvious reasons. A good example of this, is Crimson, who is head and shoulders the most stand out character of the entire show. You'll love them, or you'll hate them, for obvious reasons. A well written character in every sense of the word in terms of what they are as a character.
Art and sound: 8
The look of the show not only fits the vibe, mostly depressing vibe, but it really showcases everything of what it means to be a Dark Fantasy. As if in parts, even the brightest of colours, can look flat, but flat in a way that makes sense to the overall theme and plot.As if it's well polished to look the way it is on purpose, in order to truly stand out. Not to mention, following that up with a good sound deparment, that really carries this in many scenes. Sometimes even having little of, to really hit home this deep pit of sadness in your gut. Take the third and fourth episodes for example. There is a interesting selection of track being played, for certain events, and that really adds to it. Seriously well done.
Ragna Crimson came with a bang with a big opening episode, and a interesting follow up afterwards. While sure, it won't be everyone's cup of tea, nor will it be for all in sense of it's writing. But if it's done one thing, is put the show on the map, so if it peaks your interest, you can always see the Manga afterwards, while you wait for the next episode to come.

God I love me some animes that are just daft on the surface, but while holding some tones that are more serious driven, that really tie things together.
Story and characters: 8
Let's face it, a lot of this anime has been driven home by a good bunch of strong characters that really drive it home. The antics between Gandesblood and Vill are clear as day top tier, which can also lead to some real sweet moments within there. Along with some strong impactful characters to it's narrative in Karen, and Millicent. The synopsis of the story explains itself, with shut in Gandesblood (Komari for short), awakens
...
to find she's been appointed as a Commander in the Mulnite Imperial Army! The thing is, her new unit consists solely of belligerent ruffians who revolt against their superiors at the slightest hint of weakness. Which adds nothing but weirdness, and laughs througout the series. But then adding a touch of seriousness when it comes to certain backgrounds, which I really like. If the characters don't hook you, its siliness and gags will do just that!
Art and sound: 8
The lights, the shading, all looks really well done and polished super well. Just look at the animation of how the blood swirls in the cup. To how the most whack antics look well put together. You know this is a product done with care and passion, and it's great to see. Throw that in with good voice acting work, which seems to be them having a blast, and you've got a recipe for success. A well put together show in every department.
A really good show in fairness, a fun show that can it on it's serious tones as well. A watch for sure.

This was a surprise, but a welcomed one at that. Many animes that come to an end, more likely that's it. Unless a spin off comes out, that series is done and dusted. Never to be seen again, but in this case, it's nice to actually see the characters once again, evolved, and following their dreams. A much more welcomed sight, that I wish more shows did. We all would love to see how our favorite characters are doing
Story and characters: 7
As explained through my starting point, it follows on in the former Precures adult lives, and seeing them grown, and how they reached their
...
dreams. Only to fall into another bad situation, which results in them becoming Precures once again. But it's the overall presentation of the story that will really draw people in, is the whole mystery behind it, and the mystery of what the story means in general. Those two things mixed together, will make for a great watch from start to finish.
Art and sound: 9
I really, really, really can't express how much I love this?? It feels like how it looked in the old, but as if it's really been polished up, to look modern. Which really adds such a nice touch, which makes it stand out a lot, and look brilliant. Every inch of detail. Sure, there are some elements that don't look so good, but past that, everything else looks really nice, like a fresh coat of welcomed paint, and I can't wait to see how it looks even further. I really do love the transformations too.
If you're a fan of Precure, you're going to love this. A follow up that is bound to be enjoyed by all.
