I guess I should explain my ratings a bit. When I watch a show with multiple entries, I'll only rate the entry which I consider to be the best and have that represent my opinion on the entire franchise. As such, my ratings will be quite out of place.
As for the actual score I give, I try to be as unbiased as possible. An anime that I rate a 9 isn't immediately an anime I consider one of my 10 favorites (though it is definitely in the mix). I believe a certain threshold of objectivity exists in literary mediums. I think being able to explain what the writer/s is/are trying to convey and understanding the logic behind it is the most objective way to analyze a work in a critical sense. However, your interpretation and enjoyment of the characters and story is obviously subjective. I try my best to combine these two dimensions to find a balance in my scores. I don't give 10's anymore, mostly because it bugs me when I remember that I just gave a perfect score to a show I still believe to be flawed.

Quick Q&A
1.
What was the first anime you ever watched?
Pokemon, I also remember catching a couple of episodes of Gundam SEED and Shaman King on Toonami. However, they were just differently styled cartoons to me at the time. The first one I truly knew was an anime was Code Geass.
2.
Do you have any other non-anime related hobbies?
I'm an extensive follower of the NBA, and am a huge fan of the Chicago Bulls. In addition, I'm also into professional wrestling and trading card games.
3.
Why do you prefer anime over Western TV shows?
Anime's seasonal structure is very appealing to me. I like watching shows of different genres, but I don't want to spend my time waiting on just a single series. Western shows just require too much commitment from me. In due time, I'll check them out, but anime is just a lot easier to digest. There are a lot of Western films I like though.
4.
Do you have a favorite genre?
No, I don't. I think any show can be good if executed properly. If its story and characters are written in a way to make sense and they get you to empathize with these elements, I think it can work.
5.
Do you prefer simulcasts or binge-watching?
I find simulcasts to be effective when it comes of Slice of Life shows. Other than that, binge-watching all the way. I like to control the pace in which I consume these shows. One week can be too long or too short depending on my mood.
