I still disagree with your R2 review, but after some thought I think it's worth coming back to explain why that is the case.

For a start, calling Lelouch a "Canon Sue" only at this point seems more of a derogatory knee-jerk reaction than based on something factual. In order to support that statement, you need to have forgotten almost everything about him. Lelouch is not perfect or free from responsibility. He had always been a flawed character and the show, while it obviously tried to present him in a sympathetic light, made that clear numerous times even in R2. It's rather strange to complain about Lelouch's obsession with Nunnally and the angst he goes through when that was an essential part of his character from the very beginning. You might not like it, but that's an important part of the story and it would seem too whimsical to pretend that's just there as an annoyance.

In other words, I think your disappointment made you too cynical. Your resulting dislike of the character, because you expected his story to head in a different direction, is what motives your criticism. Not because that kind of behavior doesn't make sense or isn't internally consistent as part of the actual story. You say there is no character development, but the plot is essentially a tragic one, which is why a lot of emphasis is placed on Lelouch's suffering and how he reacts to it. Obviously that isn't going to be a positive kind of character growth, but it's rather misleading to say a downward spiral doesn't qualify as another form of progression. Negative development is still development.

I also find your use of insults towards the creative staff as a poor argument and not exactly something that deserves any respect on my part.

You say that people should turn their brains off in order to watch the show, but let me turn that around: I would have to turn my brain off and let something else dominate my mind in order to agree with your review.

I must say, yours was the best review of CG R2 of the lot.
