Alright, let me try to explain! :)

So FSG is short for "Fansub Group", the people (fans) who most of the time are responsible for the subs in Anime you download. You may have noticed some tags in front of downloaded Animes file names, for example [UTW] for Fate/Zero (if that's the release you downloaded). UTW in that case stands for Unlimited Translation Works, the name of the group who did the subs.
Now Tokyotosho (http://tokyotosho.info/) is a Torrent Library for japanese media, especially Anime, Manga, related Music and so on. It's really easy to find stuff there as most FSG's upload their recent releases. So you don't have to check for each episode of currently airing Anime seperately, but instead look if there's something new on the front page. Of course there a more sites like these, but Tosho is the one I mainly use.

So for older stuff, which isn't properly seeded anymore, you can directly go on the website of the respective FSG and join their IRC-Server to directly download the Anime they've subbed there. I actually prefer this method for older stuff as it's most of the time much faster than dowloading via torrent.

I hope this wasn't too confusing, I am often told I suck at explaining stuff. xD Feel free to ask me if you don't understand something!

Well, the backup I made before messing around with Kawaii Codec Pack (to receive better audio and video quality) was kind of broken so after putting it back on I couldn't boot. Took me 2 days to restore all data but now it's all good.

I certainly know of Crunchyroll but am not actually interested in it. I wouldn't mind the money, that's a really fair price for their service but I prefer to download my Anime from FSG's that actually like what they are doing and archive it (my new 4TB external HDD was delivered just yesterday :D). The fanmade subs just feel better to me and the video quality is on a whole other level. I'm a bit of an "audio- and videophile" and watching Anime on the 40" TV in FullHD with 5.1 Surround sound is a great experience.
Also, I don't know about how much Anime Crunchyroll offers, but I've never had any trouble finding anything I wanted to watch. After all MAL provides you with a list of most FSG's that have subbed a certain Anime. Do you know about Tokyotosho? That's where I get my torrents of latest Anime episodes from. For older stuff most FSG's provide XDCC bots so that's not a problem as well.

And I don't mind you rambling on at all, look at me rambling as well. xD I've been registered for over 5 years now and almost never talk to anyone and now I wonder why that is, as I'm really enjoying it.
So, I hope you can put some money on your credit card soon! 2 weeks without new Anime is a really long time. :/ Though I think you will enjoy watching Spice and Wolf and Steins;Gate, especially the latter is a fantastic Anime.
fac3l3ss May 12, 2013 11:21 AM
Sorry for replying only now! I somehow managed to completely break my C: drive and was kind of busy fixing everything until this morning.

Anyhow, I've watched Spice and Wolf and absolutely loved it! If you take a look at my Anime List you may notice that "cute little girl" in the background picture. :D I think you should definitely finish it before starting Fate/Stay Night and yes, I really do know how it is to find several good anime and to not be able to decide which to watch first. My Plan-to-Watch list is growing by leaps and bounds. xD

What's also a problem with the German dubs is, that the translation is usually very very childish not really spot on, as Anime is very much treated as childrens stuff here. What I especially like about the Japanese voices is, that they usually get certain puns and feelings better across. Still, English dubs are pretty high level, if it wasn't for the limited assortment.
AcezHarfianz May 10, 2013 12:16 AM
yeah make it to watch list :D
Fate/Zero well i never heard before but glad you seems enjoy that anime by score you given :)
Heddie May 8, 2013 4:08 PM
Oh, nice, nice. Here are some of my best recs.

-Steins;Gate (Thriller, Time Travel)
-Clannad After Story (Drama)
-Ano Hana (Drama, Supernatural)
-Angel Beats (Action,Supernatural, Drama)
-Shinsekai Yori (Thriller, Mistery,Supernatural)

I wouldn't rec Code Geass, it's not as big deal as many people put it, regardless it's a good show, and if you feel like watching it, alright.
fac3l3ss May 8, 2013 1:41 AM
Thats quite interesting! Would you happen to speak a little german or maybe you've sometime been to Germany?

Oh, I don't mind your request, I guess the picture finally came in useful. I put it in years ago and never really felt like changing it. Glad to see I'm the lucky one of those 15 people. :D

Fate/Zero is certainly awesome! I've watched it because it is the prequel to Fate/Stay Night, which is adapted from the same-titled game and both are great works. If you like Fate/Zero you should definitely check out Fate/Stay Night as well, though the series is a tad older.
Also, you may come to actually like Japanese dub with English subs, you would really have so many more anime to choose from. Personally, I can't bear to watch german dubbed anime, it just sounds really silly. The english synchronization is mostly pretty well done, however, to me japanese dub simply feels the most natural and entertaining. Maybe you will come to like it too. :)

thanks for the friend request XD
AcezHarfianz May 7, 2013 7:59 PM
oh okay :)

This anime made me successful to praise my dislike genre

Oh hai there!

First and foremost, welcome to MAL and thanks for your friend request! I usually don't accept random invites (not that I ever get any), but making an exception probably won't hurt. :) May I ask how you happened to come across my profile? After all we don't seem to have mutual friends and I really have no clue how someone could randomly stumble over it.

Also, as for what I've seen you are looking for some recommendations on good Anime, however, as a german, I am really not experienced regarding english dubs. You might still want to check out Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Even though I actually dislike the whole mecha genre TTGL is probably by far the best Anime I've ever watched. (It's the kind of Anime people either love or hate, with nothing much in between, I think.) It is definitely available with english dub, though I dont actually know where to get it.

That being said, I hope you have a great time here!

Ah, Gunslinger Girl. I've heard good things about that one and have been meaning to watch it. Maybe I'll get to that sometimes this summer.

Good to see that you warmed up to subbed anime. The next step is for you to get into mangas, which are usually better than their anime counterparts.

Funny that you mention Cowboy Bebop, since I'm working my way through it at the moment.

From the sound of things, you and I had similar introductions to anime during our youths thanks to Toonami/Adult Swim. So yeah, once I got hooked on that stuff I ventured out onto the internet and got exposure to even more stuff. It's been quite the tour, I must say.

My taste in anime/manga is pretty eclectic. I can appreciate shounen, seinen, romance, slice of life, psychological, adventure, comedy, and even hentai every now and then. Though I tend to resonate best with series that have action and epic, thrilling atmospheres.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
