There really isn't too much to say. I'm fairly certain that this manga ended after one volume due to cancellation. Eris does not really accomplish a whole lot. The last chapter hints at more content, but clearly it was never released. Eris trains with the Sword God for years, and she does not reunite with Rudeus for a long time in the light novel. Hence, there are a lot of stories that could have been expanded on or even added in order to bring depth to some of the other minor characters. If this series kept going, then it probably would have been an 8

or a 9. However, as it is, I wouldn't score it too high. It's worth a quick read if you're bored or you like Eris though.

I am honestly somewhat surprised that this series flew under the radar the way it has. Rurouni Kenshin is one of the anime that defined 90's shounen. Although I am not the biggest fan of remakes, I find it appropriate in this case since the original series has its downsides (lots of filler, incomplete adaptation etc.). me to watch the original in Japanese because Kenshin's voice was too feminine in my opinion. The animation is solid but not amazing. I really like the 90's aesthetic, but this version is fine in its own right. The music is a bit of a downgrade though. The original soundtrack had some amazing tracks, but most of the music here is kind of forgettable. The only thing that really holds this series back is the 24 episode cap that they had to set for themselves. The beginning arcs of Kenshin are still solid in their own right, but there's a lot of exposition, and the payoffs for the action sequences are good but not great. They serve as a strong foundation for the recurring conflicts and character dynamics throughout the series, but in a vacuum, they have a hard time standing out amongst the crowd. The next arc with Shishio (i.e. the most recognizable antagonist of the series) is one of the greatest shounen arcs of all time in my opinion. If you have made it this far as a new viewer, then I would definitely stick with the series. It only gets better from here. If you're a fan of the original, then we just have to hope that Lidenfilms does the series justice.

I'll preface this review by stating that I am a light novel reader, so it should be clear that I'm a big fan of the series. I think that this season overall might be underwhelming for some, which I completely understand. The second half of the previous season was absolutely phenomenal, and the journey home felt like a once in a lifetime experience. Hence, this much slower paced season could easily be jarring in comparison. I think that's part of why the Counter Arrow arc exists. novel. In my opinion, it is not entirely necessary and can disrupt the flow of the series a little. However, the relationship with Sara helps to highlight Rudeus's impotence. Rudeus clearly feels some sort of connection with Sara, but he can't perform since he still has not moved on from Eris. The relationship struggles here serve to show the importance of the developments with Sylphy by the end of the season. The university arc as a whole introduces several new characters who end up being very important throughout the rest of the series. Cliff and Zanoba are practically Rudeus's closest friends and allies. Of course, Sylphy is quite important herself too. The introduction of Ariel (in addition to her dialogue at the end) also teases toward a future arc involving the Asuran succession candidates. As a whole, I can completely understand why a casual viewer could see this season as a step down. However, in the grand scheme of Mushoku Tensei, this season serves as an excellent developmental period for the rest of Rudeus's young adulthood. In my opinion, the next half of the season will be very reminiscent of Season 1 Part 2 in terms of action. It is unfortunate that we will have to wait several months to see it animated. However, I have full confidence in the studio to deliver another amazing season. Thanks for reading. I appreciate your feedback.

It appears that no one else has written a review for this manga, so I figured that I should add my two cents. Roxy Gets Serious is a manga written and illustrated by Shouko Iwami, who has written a handful of moe manga. Her background is very evident in the art style of the manga, especially when compared to the original character designs by Sirotaka. The art is cutesy and not extremely detailed, but it works for the story.
The plot itself is somewhat underwhelming but not necessarily bad. It details Roxy's life from her days in the Migurd village up until she attends the Ranoa
...
Magic Academy. However, the story reads more like a slice of life manga rather than a coming of age story. We do learn of Roxy's growth as an adventurer and mage, but most of the conflicts presented in the story are ultimately minor. There is a strong emphasis on the more quirky elements of Roxy's personality like her fascination with sweets.
Although the manga is still enjoyable, I would have preferred a more consequential story. Roxy Gets Serious attempts to highlight the discrimination that the demon race faces, but it is typically used as a plot device and nothing more. I know that my review so far sounds very negative, but I honestly kind of liked this manga. I just think it had the potential to be so much more. It doesn't compare to the original story, but I love seeing my favorite girl in action.
P.S. If you are starting this series right after the anime, then you should skip the first page of Chapter 1. It reveals character spoilers that wouldn't be known until about halfway through the series.
