You're welcome. Indeed it was, the artstyle and the relationship between Ernest and Celestine is what made it so great.

wing is actually one of the weaker entries in the series, it just got really popular in the west for some reason on toonami, The cool thiong about wing though is its actually a copy of the entire UC in one show, not like a rip off but a good homage, it goes through stories similar to 079, zeta, and char's counterattack all in its 50 episodes but with its own style. But its still sadly one of the more sloppily made series in the franchise. Thoguh a benefit to gundam is that all the entrees have been radically different since the UC ended, and even then 079, zeta, and ZZ do feel different (but victory gundam feels very similar to zeta since its the darkest entry in the franchise)

well you can probably tell by the score but reconguista is just a really bad series, its got cool ideas, great mech action, and a interesting setting but it wastes all of them in a jumbled mess. the saving grace here is that G-reco pretty much copied a significantly better gundam in most of its plot. And that gundam is something hat is probably way more up your alley if you like macross

its the slowest paced entry in the series and of the full fledged 4 cour series it has the lowest amount of action with more focus on the characters politics and world. its probably my favorite gundam out of the non ova series and it was just a treat, its generally reccomended to be seen after all the UC gundam and the extended universe ones (G, X, wing) since it ties them all together but it really only plays a part late in the story and not to that big a degree, though id recommend going through most of the entries released before it because its so unique and much of a far cry from what the series usually is that i feel the appreciation of it may be lost without the ties to the older shows. Also for the record turn-A is the only tomino show where the romance is actually good, its actually subtle this time around and built up to, its not a major role in the series but its quite surprising how well handled it is in comparison to previous works

ZZ is a weird as fuck case, Zeta gundam is famous for being incredibly dark and bleak even earning the series creator tomino the nickname that sticks with him to this day accurately named "kill em all tomino" for his tendencies to have insanely high body counts. Zeta has a really famous heartbreaking conclusion that really leaves a pretty heavy impact, then you start up ZZ and suddenly its all slapstick and keep in mind unlike 079 to zeta which had a large time skip ZZ quite literally takes place an hour or 2 after the conclusion of zeta.

though the big thing that ZZ gets flakc for is generally just isnt that enjoyable as a comedy though is the problem, the saving grace is around episode 18 or so the comedy slowly starts to fade out and it becomes a normal gundam show with some moments that are actually extremely good, theres arc around episode 30-36 thats probably one of my favorite moments in gundam. Sadly the finale was really messy which kind of backpeddles on the vast improvements it makes, i still recommend it for those good moments and the fatc it plays a surprisingly big part in the masterful gundam unicorn(unicorn is essentially the ultimate fanservice to freidns and uses every single show before it to set up a grandiose finale to all the characters and the conflict at hand, even though the universal century continues on past that point with F91 and victory gundam they are farther in time and feature 100% new casts).

its your call to watch ZZ, i personally reccomend it even with me giving it a less than stellar score, frankly its not THAT bad and i find the likes of gundam reconguista and stardust memory to be worse by a much larger margin

i kind of wish the gundam franchise was alot more like macross, which balanced action and SOL way better than most of the gundams which are extremly heavy in action(though X and especially turn A are way more focused on stuff outside of the mechs), and yeah i wasnt too big a fan of amuro in the original either though whenever he appears in zeta gundam its hype as fuck, the main character of zeta gundam kammile is ALOT better if you ask me though i must warn you he starts off the series as a literal violent sociopath before he starts developing out of it, personally i liked him from the get go even with how violent he was mainly cause he was such a far cry from both amuro and what i expected him to be. The biggest far cry of a protagonist personality will be ZZ's main character whose super upbeat and goofy with little to no angst, in fact the only time he really angsts is when some really tragic shit happens to him midway through the series.

yes that romance comes straight the fuck out of no where in the show too, The series creator tomino cannot write romance to save his life, ill just sya dont expect much from romantic relationships until you reach the non tomino gundams such as G-gundam, X, war in the pocket, and so forth.

And yes continue onto zeta, but only its TV show the compilation movies butcher the show unlike 079's. Zeta has aged significantly better than 079 did and generally found it to be a way easier watch than 709 even if i appreciate things 079 does more upon reccolation, 079 is kind of a grower i slowly appreciated more and more looking back on it.

as for the spin offs like ms team and war in the pocket, they could be watched anytime of your choosing but i reccomend if you are willing to sit through gundam ZZ it'd be nice to save those as sure fire bets of quality to help you not go insane through the less than stellar parts of it

Id generally say go with the movies, the series has a pacing problem at points and generally suffers from a mecha of the week episodic format while the films cut down alot of the fat and make it feel more dynamically paced, it also benefits from reanimated scenes that look less derpy and also remaking some overly cheesy parts entirely. the downside is that they do cut a few things i really wish they hadnt but its nothing big to make me say the TV series is a better pick, the original 079 gundam has not aged that well and the movies are a good and efficient way to watch them now
