So I finished Monster. I'm thinking of reviewing it, but my general opinion of it for now is that it's "great" but not "excellent" it's missing some kind of "wow factor" to it and I'm not exactly sure what yet, but I'll think about it as I decide whether to review it or not.

I'll watch Clannad from your list next and it's afterbirth story after two other relatively short shows.

Thanks, I'll check that one out.

No, I haven't seen the critiques. I watched the Force Awakens and the Last Jedi after rented both on blu-ray. I watched both these movies after rewatching the original trilogy. Both series are very different from each other in its portrayal of its characters. many of the supporting characters that are the rebels all have agency in the story. Lando, Luke,Han Solo, Leia, etc all play an important part in defeating the empire. In the new movies it seems like every character ends being a overshadowed or a mere sidekick to Rey. They actually made the supporting characters more incompetent or less likeable in the Last Jedi.

I really hate how Rose ruined all the character development that Finn gained in the previous film. Finn's main character development is he found a reason to fight for the rebels and become courageous individual than someone that keeps running away from a fight. In this movie, this was the perfect opportunity for him to complete a solo mission or a duo mission with Poe since they had some chemistry in the Force Awakens. Rose ends up in most ways more competent than him and turns him into a sidekick that follows her around. When he finally tries to do something courageous again his thunder is stolen from her with a forced speech and kiss (Finn doesn't seem to like it). Star Wars supporting characters should all be bad ass in their own right not mere sidekicks, its the reason why the new characters are not as nearly as popular as the older ones.

I don't know, I'm still going through the second season of k-on but it is hard to get through to say the least. Expect a negative review of that at some point. I keep starting to watch other things to try and break up the monotony of that. After this I want to watch something that has absolutely nothing to do with school or school clubs lel. I was thinking of Monster since I already have it and you suggested it (albeit in the negative) in that one post. I'm sure I'll watch some one off films and stuff in between.

I read that character thread. I don't even understand what the OP was trying to say in his initial post, but my guess is it was a convoluted way of asking "Why are you analyzing my favorite things in such a negative way?" Possibly wrong interpretation there, but the rest of the thread cemented that for me. I busted a gut when he said a character doesn't gain anything by not being overpowered and "going through struggles" or something to that effect. Which is pretty amazing to me, because I thought a character having a defined arc and an identifiable/relatable trajectory in a story was the foundation of most fictional writing lel.

Funny, I was about to watch Sword of The Stranger the other day but decided on another film.

I remember watching part of his "The Asterisk War Sucks" series and it was like a 13 part series of him making the same point over and over, after about the seventh one I had to stop. He has some real trouble with concision and meandering in circles. I think he is emblematic of fact that a lot of anime criticism at least in the west is very shallow and based too much around raw likes and dislikes.

Another thing about him and the video the thread is about, that just makes me laugh is he harps on cliches and anime having filler content and bad art, but his favorite show is K-on lel. Maybe I'm hating but I'm going through the second season of that now and despite his and other peoples claim's that it's the greatest anime of all time, I just really don't see anything special about it.

Why you hatin on Digi? J/K

Just wanted to say I agreed with that post. He sometimes has a point when talking about writing but his 23 part videos just say the same thing over and over ad nausea and a lot of it amounts to "this is boring" or "this is good because I like it." In other words he is the Chris Stuckmann of Anime.

Do you hold a grudge against me? You keep talking to me and I find that ironic because I was called a troll by you, but I see that you can't seem to leave me alone as you shown on the forum about piracy and then a month later do you come back to talk about the people who commented under my profile. I don't exactly remember the context of the situation...I kind of forgotten about it...I moved on...haven't thought about Anime YouTubers in a while.
What is the topic again? Nevermind...can you just leave me alone?

Glad you agreed with most of my points on my AoT blog. I have to admit, it's kind of cringey looking back at my writing 3 years ago lmao.
That aside, I disagree with your point on Ergo Proxy not exploring its concepts well, but that's a debate for another day.

As you can tell, I really didn't like AoT, and I still don't (lol). Like I mentioned earlier, the blog was written about 3 years ago, so much of the manga has gotten ahead by now and everyone knows more info on the story, etc. At the time when we didn't know much about the story, I do believe I made valid criticisms of the way it handled its "mystery" aspect, but that's not necessarily accurate anymore. Even then, personally, it still dropped the ball for me a long time ago.

Are you trying to tell what counts as fair use?
You do know that wasn’t the point right?
Answer this question becaude everyone like you never
do and only repeat themselves.
How did he get the clips in the first place?

I haven't seen Monster, Texhnolyze or Hibike but those are shows I plan to watch. I have heard of Clannad and Kanon and I'll probably get to them eventually, one thing that I can already tell is awful about Kanon without even having seen it is the art. In fact it might be one of the ugliest shows I have laid eyes upon. I've often heard Clannad compared to Bleach and Sword Art Online and I don't really like either so it wouldn't be a big surprise to me if I didn't end up liking that.

I had never heard of Kekkai Sensen but reading it's description on here, it sounds like premium schlock.
