Hey that's fair, Puck doesn't work for everyone! I'm indifferent mainly. And I actually think that Fantasia has the best art in the series so far, so I'd say it actually got better after GA.

Here is a fine place to reply. I've just had a LOT of comments flooding my front page so far. Maybe private message would be better, so it doesn't get lost in a flood of angry comments on my Bakemonogatari review.

Sorry for the extremely late response! My internet has been having issues on my laptop and I can only access MAL on my phone. I generally dislike typing messages using my phone because more errors and the ever annoying autocorrect. Anyways, my new year was great! Same here really, just spent time with family.

No problem. Yeah, the far right can be interesting to lurk for a bit, but eventually it gets quite dull. Their arguments have stayed pretty static for decades. They wax and wain in size over the decades, but they will always be there saying the same stupid shit. Occasionally the modify it a bit and add a new coat of memes, but ultimately it's the same. The race/IQ debates have raged since the 1920s, and will continue because you can't statistically "prove" that there is no difference between any 2 groups. All you can do is say there isn't sufficient evidence to reject the null hypothesis of random chance variation. I could expand on this topic, which I have a decent amount of knowledge on as a psych student, but I don't want to bore you.

My favorite of the anime youtube critics is actually Bennett the Sage.

Definitely we should continue our conversations, but I have to go to work now. Molyneux is a gaping asshole.

I've actually seen a few Peterson interviews since we last talked. While he's a bit more conservative than me in some areas, we agree in other areas. Generally he's a very reasonable man.

I live in Nashville, which is where I've lived for most of my life. I've not done nearly as much travel as I'd like, but I've been a few places. I've visited Canada, Mexico, Barbados, spent 2 weeks in Hong Kong, 2 weeks in Shanghai/Hangzhou and 3 weeks in Moscow/ St. Petersberg.

Many of Dostoevsky's novels are about religion, since that was a deeply personal topic for him. Examples would include: The Brothers Karamazov, The Idiot, Crime and Punishment, and to a degree The Demons. I'm only vaguely familiar with Peterson as a psychologist although that was my major as an undergraduate.

Dostoevsky was a socialist athiest as a youth, but after being arrested on false charges and sentenced to years in a Siberian labor camp following a mock execution he found religion. In his novels he offers some of the best arguments both for and against religion because he himself was deeply conflicted. I believe he was somewhat agnostic but deeply wished to believe in God and a universal morality that would one day create a reconciled brotherhood of Mankind. Dostoevsky was a political conservative who grew deeply skeptical and worried about the new Western European ideologies of the late 19th century: Communism, Social Darwinism, Nietzsche's new morality, etc. He believed the teachings of Christ helped shape Western morality and that these new teachings would lead to wide scale destruction and evil. In Dostoevsky's defense, both 20th century Communism and Nazism directly rose from the teachings he warned about and indeed turned out to be awful.

I would. Which book are thinking about reading? BTW, what country are you from?

I don't currently have Netflicks, but I've heard really good things about that show!
literaturenerd Jul 31, 2016 4:53 PM
Sure. I'd be happy to!

Eva has some zealous fanboys, but there are plenty of negative Eva reviews as well. Eva is a divisive enough series that no matter what you write, some people will agree and some won't. All that matters is that you back up your opinions and explain why you personally feel the way you do.

Only because you don't have lots of friends or series listed yet. Some people operate multiple accounts, so I was just wondering.
literaturenerd Jul 29, 2016 7:49 AM
I'm glad you enjoyed it! BTW, do you have another account or this your only one?

I actually liked the darker turn in the 2nd half. The ending kind of leaves things open to interpretation. The conventional view is that Vash is walking away with Knives and is going to try reform him. Vash did bother to put bandages on Knives' wounds after all. However, the symbolism kind of suggests that Knives might be dead and Vash is going to bury him in a nice place. Vash takes off his jacket and leaves it on the ground. The jacket was red to represent Rem's favorite flower and he wore it to remind himself of her and her kindhearted idealism. Vash's last words in the series were "I still value your ideals Rem, but now I am going to follow my own words". This once again would point to Knives being dead and Vash having to come to terms with breaking one of Rem's commandments in order to save lives. Rem was gentle and good, but a bit too naive for a cruel world in which people like Legato and Knives live. Also notice how Knives is NOT moving or breathing at all.
