THe main characters of both series both have a similar approach toward youkai: they try-not-to-kill-if-possible attitude towards youkai them even if have had bad experiences with them. Both of them have youkai in their daily lives, and both try to help others with their problems regardless of race. However, for all the mc's similarities, they also have their differences. Tactic's Kantarou is more sly and amiable toward youkai while NY's Natsume is more instinctive and aloof towards youkai. It's interesting seeing how though they have a similar approach and often achieve similar results, the lessons they seem to take from it differ due to their different personalities.

How do I start...they're just...alike? The social standing of the ukes and the semes are the same. The ukes want something. They meet the seme in the process of looking for this something. Seme is instantly smitten and tries to woo uke. Seme helps uke get what he wanted (sooner or later). Lots of similarities and hopefully no spoilers...^_^"

Okay...well, they're both gender-bender. Though HKdA is part of the slice-of-life genre and Brandoll more of the fantasy genre, they have the same....atmosphere. Cute and sweet and light...you get my point. They both have the comedy factor, and the drama factor as well. It's all well balanced and you'd definitely like one if you liked the other.

Few similarities, but same..."feeling" from both mangas. Just a warning though, CyBoy is a shoujo, but Thunderbolt Boys is a yaoi. You have been warned. Kiyosumi (Cy) and Nobita (TB) were dorky, geeky characters who were used and teased by everyone. Something happened in their lives (Kiyo was rejected by a girl he liked and Nobita was forced to save a school program), that caused them to want to change their selves. After the transformation, they're one of the most popular people in school. Both of them are comedy-type manga, and they're both really funny. But TB is a yaoi, so tread with caution. ^J^

Okay...when I finished SHnK, I seriously thought it was so alike HE. Looking at it closer, there's not much similarities. But the plot is essentially kind of the same. Not describing it cause of spoilers though. ^_^" HE is a sweet shounen-ai, while SHnK starts out as shounen-ai and ends in yaoi. Both are sweet and full of trials between the two guys, and both have a sweet, really sweet ending.

Number
add

Okay...this is going to sound weird, but I'm recommending Skip Beat!for those who like Number. This is mostly due to character similarities. Both main characters, Toneriko and Kyoko (for Number and Skip Beat! respectively) went into the business in order to get revenge. Their enemies, Tekirai and Shotarou, didn't care about them until later chapters, in which they showed an interest towards them. Both characters received help in order to get into the business, from Ageha and Sawara-san respectively. And the main characters both found their first and best friends while wroking in the business. (Mizuto and Kanae respectiuvely) Other than that, they're quite different. SB! is a lot lighter than Number and though they're both listed as shoujo, Number has implied sexual dialogue that make it borderline shounen-ai. They're both amazing, but comedy is present all-throughout SB! while tragedy/sadness is present all-throughout Number.
