So glad we have the same opinion regarding KyoAni :D They have so much potential with their animation.

And yes I do, I'm one of those annoying source masterrace people in anime discussion threads lol (not all the time though)

Respect to all fan translators out there :) It's those who are passionate that create the best translations. I'll let you know if I ever start reading the LN.

Ah, well that further makes me annoyed at KyoAni (not saying they're terrible). I understand that it's more "interesting" that way, but ugh. Well that's also why anime adaptations can't be judged the same was as its source, half the time they change stuff up, for better or for worse. Usually the source is better and has more details.

As for Gilbert being an amazing character, that doesn't come surprising at all given the way he was portrayed in the first episode. There's nothing that would give the audience a negative opinion on him. And it's kind of precisely because of that that I'd say it would be more interesting without him. I can't really put it in words why I think this way, but ultimately it doesn't matter because he is alive haha. And I haven't read the LN, so what would I know? :P

But wow, who knew that I was talking to the translator of the LN!!! Lol. No wonder you're so passionate about the series :) I'm too lazy to read it now, but I'll keep in mind to try it out, maybe if I end up really liking the TV show or feeling dissatisfied with it. I've already got my hands full with the amount of shows I'm following rn T_T (my fault ofc) I also don't particularly like reading lots of text on screen.

In fear of spoiling too much in the first episode discussion thread, I decided to respond here instead :)

I'm rather surprised that Gil is still alive...I'm not a fan of "x character is actually alive" type of writing and while I had thought about him possibly being alive, I wanted it to not be true. It's not to say that it can't be done well, so we'll see how I feel about it I guess (idk how far they will adapt though). I mean I've only seen one episode so far.
