The main character has other dreams besides acting. He/she does not think about pursuing the entertainment industry until he/she is influenced by someone. In Love Stage!!, it's Izumi's parents. In Skip Beat!, it's Kyoko's ex-boyfriend. Both characters experience drawbacks and gradually get better as an actor. They have a popular actor as a love interest, who also plays a part in their past somehow. Love Stage! reveals the romantic history in full, while Skip Beat! doesn't elaborate and leaves a cliffhanger.
