Yeah it was so creepy I don’t think it felt so flat maybe it was a bit shorter but I gotta tell you I enjoyed that one perfectly disturbing with gloomy atmosphere. Always the shorter format stories tend to work better than the ones that take up most of an episode. I somehow got a weird feeling while watching I thought to myself that I would rather be looking at a million bleeding wounds than these pattern arranged dried holes all over someone’s body. e_e’
The horror is generally structured well in this one, as we build up to boy learning more about this mysterious disease and how it relates to his grandfather's death.
This all manages to be scary thanks to the story's relatable feeling of dread. Fear of an unknown disease is a fundamental human fear, and the freaking body holes condition is alien enough to work as a supernatural scare while still conveying the literal chills the story wants to send through our bones.

I didn’t really focus on that part but yeah I think it was totally unnecessary. That scene when Kinuko came to the old brother house and what Jean Pierre did to her was horrible as hell. I can’t get that scene with all the blood off of my head.
Scary to now know why the girl was acting strangely like she did. Also, another lesson of why "curiosity killed the cat". Jean Pierre actually reminds me of The Grudge is based on a ghost that will kill you just because you're at the wrong place. And cosmic horror is all about unwitting people looking at or touching things will literally melt their brains. Really ghost stories in Japan definitively aren't fair at all.
Good luck with your work gurl!

Sorry if I took a long time to reply but I wanted to watch episode 4 first because when you said that part of the story The Crossroad Pretty Boy is actually will continue I got more excited. To be honest, at the beginning I did not like it and I thought it was some teenage triviality. The whole idea of fortune telling did not make sense to me so I thought it was a bit ridiculous. As I kept reading about it in some websites I got so deep into the story and I even read the manga. I for sure changed my mind after that, and I must say I’m very impressed. It was really interesting story I did not consider I would like it that much! Unfortunately, the story didn’t continue I was hoping for more Ryuusuke and that creepy pretty boy.

The 4th episode was so damn good and kinda convinced me a little to keep on watching. It’s about those irrational but very real fears that we all have to some degree or another. In other words, it maxed out on phobias that is for sure, and those who don’t have either Trypophobia or Pupaphobia could develop the fear after this. It has so many holes that I had a goosebumps from only saw it and that will probably induce some nightmares for a few people, not to mention how Jean Pierre was disturbing as hell. Episode 2 and 4 were the best episodes so far in my opinion, one of the best I've seen.

I don’t know gurl! Production’s already falling apart in the third episode I thought it was improved a lot in it's second. It was genuinely creepy. I'm in the minority in saying the art is to the show's service and not being super detailed like the source has it's benefits. So it might survives this week, but I still wouldn't hesitate to drop it.

I preferred Slug Girl more than Lovesick Dead.
Slug girl was pretty creepy, wish that story had been given more air time than the first. :/

Yeah it was a huge improvement over the first episode mainly in a horror sense, but still not good I feel like that's owed entirely to the better stories. I agree the art style are not convenient for an Ito’s work and the animations particularly in The Long Dream segment in some level are just plain bad comparing to the manga. I have also noticed that only key characters look like Ito’s art style. I really hoped for more thicker line art, and more intense expressions. :/ The story however was great, but the Fashion Model one was clunky and boring I don’t see why you found it disturbing. Honestly it made me laugh more than scared.

I personally liked the The Long Dream segment. it was very disturbing. I would never considered what it would be like to have a 1 year dream last only one day in reality! I‘ve felt a sense of tragedy. To be trapped in an endless dream, and it’s very convincing that it felt so real that it almost felt like living! What a creepy ideas and images that stay with you. :o

What are your thoughts of the second episode of JIC?
Dhoha Jan 8, 2018 4:06 PM
I enjoyed it too but I’m just saying I am not sure If I could be able to handle it with sound and color. ><"
I don’t understand why Studio Deen choose to start with Souichi’s Diary of Curses! Those stories are in my opinion mostly incredibly meh and not at all what Ito's known for. The thing about Junji Ito: Collection is that what it made it originally unsetting was the detail in every panel. Don’t get me wrong, the first episode was fantastically weird, and we all agree that Horror not just about jump scares and blood. It can be about atmosphere, themes, mood and other stuff. I actually experienced a spooky atmosphere while watching the episode. It gave me chills because I started imagining I’m surrounded by it!

Just watched first episode of the Junji Ito: Collection and it was alright. Not sure how to feel about Souichi’s voice. I don’t think it was a smart move to be honest. :/ We are probably expecting the series to be creepy and the Souichi’s story are more black comedy. The opening song is so good though.

Very well then, I did understand more about the plot and the whole series. I might give it a shot after I’m done with Vagabond. Nah I didn’t know 1st episode been released. You must be very excited though. I will get back to you for sure after I watch it. :]

I do not doubt that Yamaguchi is good and has his own style, but his designs did not please me at all. They are very expressive, but they have a pathos exaggerated which make them a little too “baroque” I can’t stand specifically these eyes perpetually wide open. it kind of gives you a certain sense of discomfort, which is i think is the main purpose of the author to make the gore goes into detail. However, I don't want to rush into judgment but it seems I already did. x)
Dhoha Jan 4, 2018 5:51 AM
Alright, sound interesting, does give me a bit motive to try it out. I think it’s a bit similar to Vagabond both have samurai vibe and sword fights.
I heard one my friends, they say it has strong language and intense scenes of rape, and partial nudity, which I don't mind, but does get me worried about the quality of it. I don't know how far I will go with Shigurui since I have to see if it's something I will enjoy. I am really in a mood for comedy and romance right now because my life is so stressful these days. I will get into it for sure whenever I’m ready for gory stuff.

Have you chekced out the anime adaptation? what are your thoughts?
Dhoha Jan 1, 2018 4:36 PM
Wow I have to say your background is pure art. I actually immediately saved it :p
What manga is that? seems interesting!
