I see you started Aria. I've seen very mixed reviews about it, so not sure if it's good or not. Share me your thoughts if you end up finishing it.

I actually haven't watched Attack on Titan either, I may have to check it out after Haibane Renmei. I'm not much of a manga person, I only really read My Hero Academia, but I may check it out on your recommendation.

As far as the animation/art is concerned, the show actually changes to a 16:9 format in the third season. I believe it gets better over time, although marginally. The President is actually a cat, and there's one for each of the undine companies. I admittedly wasn't the fondest of President Aria in the beginning, but I can sincerely say I grew fond of the different Presidents over the course of the show. I can't guarantee you'll feel the same, but I hope you do, as he's more or less shown as frequently as the main characters.

Hey, just thought I'd give you an update, I've watched 4 episodes of Flowers of Evil so far. Obviously the events are more on the extreme end, but I think the show does a great job at capturing the human condition. I can't really point to a specific instance, but it just seems very real. Instead of feeling like I'm watching a tv show, it feels like I'm watching someone's screwed up life unfold.

Yeah, I try to recommend Aria when I can, but I understand it's not for everyone. The fact that you like the iyashikei genre makes me think you'll like it though.

My "watching" list is actually pretty messed up. I use it to keep track of shows I plan to watch that I have immediately available to watch either on disc or through streaming services and the like. I have watched the first episode or two of Haibane Renmei, but it was a while ago so I don't recall much. I have heard great things about it though. I've also heard Flowers of Evil is pretty polarizing. I'll make sure to place a high priority on both shows so I can let you know what I think.

Yes, I don't like to limit myself to a specific type or genre of anime. I can enjoy something as simple as K-On and as complex as Lain with everything in between. I still try to be selective with my choices because I'm a 'completionist' and hate to drop a show. And as you've seen, my tags pretty much describe what I liked or disliked from a show. So, if you are in the look for a specific type of show, let me know and I'll try to find something suitable that I can recommend.

The show is very underrated in my opinion. The animation was great and the focus on the girls and their guardians is both disheartening and heartwarming at the same time. If you're interested give two or three episodes before judging it. Also forget that a second season exists, because it threw everything to the trash can and should be killed with fire.

You should check out everything will be Okay and its two sequels since you liked Furiko (I loved that one as well). They are kind of? similar. I have watched the first one and it was decent tho I liked Furiko more, but I heard the last part of the trilogy (it's such beautiful day) was really good.
