10-6: These shows were good and I liked them all at some point (to varying degrees ofc). 6 IS NOT A BAD SCORE.
5-1: These shows were not good.
Characters can carry a show regardless of its plot. For me, great characters constitute ones that are just enjoyable to watch (often this means that they are written well). Character development is good, but not necessary. Character interactions also play a major role in my enjoyment - the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Production often raises score but rarely lowers them.
I primarily consider enjoyment when rating shows, but I don't completely ignore the critical aspects of a show. If a show is super fun but a total mess when it comes to writing, I will reflect that in my score by lowering it. Similarly, if I don't necessarily always enjoy the show but can recognise the quality of it, then I will raise that score. Because of this, my ratings are different to my rankings and favourites (fuck you I love Kimi no Na wa and Kuroko no Basuke, even if they aren't the pinnacle of storytelling).
Started watching seasonal anime during Summer 2017 (kinda - I only picked up 2 shows that were sequels)
