Yeah, I think Ellie's pursuit of revenge is her way of trying her darndest to hold on to Joel because of how much he meant to her. In the end, she has to sort of come to terms with that lack of resolution between her and Joel. The final flashback between the two of them made me insanely emotional.

Yeah that might be one of my disconnects with Part 2 is that Ellie's personality feels really dissonant with her personality in the first game, which I get why they went that route since she's older and more emotionally traumatized but they might have gone a tad too far with it.

I actually think it's a really good game even if it's nowhere near as good as the first one. It doesn't really have the same level of deliberate pacing, cohesion and character writing as part 1 but it still hits it out of the park with some of it's emotional beats. I'm sort of in this weird area where people who say certain parts or TLOU2 are either godawful or amazing, I personally think are just "alright". It is quite a bit darker too.
