Trying to dip my toes back into the anime pool after some years of not watching, besides re-watching some old favourites.
Despite the harsh intro statement to the profile, I'm a pretty approachable guy who likes stuff and doesn't mind talking to people about anime and other things. Feel free to shoot me a message, and I'll respond in kind.
Hi. My name is Levi. Yep. I play a lot of video games and table top role playing games, and might end up making at least some professionally, I guess. I might write things here sometimes (but don't count on it): Clickety-click!
While I don't write a lot of them, I do like writing about and discussing anime. I try to hit every point and highlight negatives and positives alike, but I do probably have a preference towards bashing negatives. If you find anything you agree/disagree with and/or want to discuss, feel free to hit me up on PM or a comment below.
Current anime endeavour: Re-watching Eureka Seven and Monster
I don't care whatsoever what anyone else's criteria are, I judge based on my own experiences, not by some set objective anime scoring rule, hurr.
I tend to value Story and Characters the highest, but can give out plus/minus for art and sound if those departments are truly spectacular or absolutely god damned horrible. Enjoyment should be equal to my final score, because that's what I'm judging a show on, obviously - "How much do I enjoy it?"
No genre is worth more to me, even if I clearly have ones that I enjoy more, but what I'm saying is that a horror anime can absolutely be ranked the same as a dramatic, poignant anime if both are about equally good.
Score definitions below:
10: Masterpiece, I guess. The best series I have seen are 10's, naturally. Obviously no anime are perfect, but I find it ridiculous to say that 10's are only reserved for perfect anime. All things have flaws, but some series' are so unbelievably good, they rise to the top of their medium and the viewer's mind. Those are my tens, at least.
9: Fantastic, but missing something that otherwise would have made it a favourite. Could be anything from a plot-twist being dumb or a few elements of the story, say characters for example, take away from the overall grade.
8: Very, very good.
7: Good stuff.
6: Decent enough for me to make it through without suffering all too much.
5: Barely made it.
4-1: Terrible. Hated every moment I was watching these. Some I was stubborn enough to finish.
Scores into recommendations:
10: Must watch.
8-9: Highly recommended.
6-7: Kind of recommended, but only if you like the genre.
5: Only recommended if you disagree with my negative thoughts on the series and/or really like the genre.
1-4: STAY AWAY.
