I have watched some bad anime. Some truly awful anime. But rarely has a show been so bad that I’ve felt the need to write a review just to express how bad it is. A bad show can be fun to watch. Seeing bad animations and bad writing as amusing. However, this isn’t even the case with Arifureta.

Let me break this down:

Characters 2/10
The main character is unlikable. Maybe not quite as much as Makoto from School Days but he is a massive prick. Yet, in typical Isekai fashion, all the girls seem to want to ride his chin-chin. He’s also OP as is standard ... in Isekai but his gaining of OP powers is about a 5 minute scene in the first episode. Makes it hard to feel that he in anyway earned them.As for side characters they generally fall into a trope without actually doing much to set them apart from the hundreds of other anime characters in that trope. In fact most side characters seem to be a poor imitation of another more popular one.

Story 1/10
Generic and boring is bad enough. However, this show also suffers from some of the worst pacing I’ve ever come across. Things happen far too fast. It makes it hard not only to keep track of what is supposed to be happening but also to care.

Art 4/10
Art isn’t too bad. The 2D stuff is pretty standard for the day. Suffers from the usual bad 3DCG of this era too.

I’d write more but like the writers of this show I can’t be bothered. Don’t waste your time with this show.

This anime is an absolute blast! At first I thought that it would be bad as the animation looked bad but the story more than made up for it. This anime has more twists and turns than a twisty turny thing. It constantly keeps you on your toes throughout the entire 2 minute run time. The lack of sound makes it both a 0/10 and a 10/10 existing in 2 states as per the laws of quantum physics until it is observed and collapses in to one or the other. The characters were artfull in their humanity. I especially liked Kazuma who, whilst being a ... self insert MC, was also able to convey true depth.

Overall be sure not o give this show a miss.
