Stop copying my anime ratings before I get A-N-G-R-Y. This is a warning!

Say, you ever going to move on to Jojo part 4?
darkmac Jun 5, 2010 9:34 PM
Btw, I see you've read the Marimite manga. Is it much different than the anime, or pretty much the same?

It was better in a lot of ways, so I kinda wanted to give it a higher rating. It's just that it's...really long and drawn out (there are a few 200+ page action scenes near the end). And I'm not a fan of the Trigun manga's villains or its action scenes, so the stretching out made things worse for me. I think a great deal of Maximum's praise comes from people who love the action, so I guess it just wasn't for me.

Ha, indeed, you're mostly right (though Renge's voice still hurts to hear). The first half was a great satire, and then the second half was a pretty fun fighting series. Maki makes for a really unique protagonist, though it was the villains (Devilman and Julietta) who really stole the show.

It's pretty good.

Whenever Renge's not around. It's almost inconceivable that such an irritating character could possibly exist.

I've of course seen it as a kid, but it's been so long that I couldn't put it on my list in good conscience, so I went and rewatched it again.

The difference is that I like the dialogue, characters, scenes, art, music, premise, etc. more in Aria and Kamichu!. When I was watching Aria and Kamichu!, especially the latter, I usually had a permanent smile pasted onto my face, and several scenes brought me to tears. Windy Tales didn't have the same pleasant atmosphere and wasn't as charming.

There wasn't anything about it that I actually disliked, and I enjoyed every episode. But for the most part it was just...okay. Every episode had some sort of beautiful 9/10 or 10/10 moment, but other than that it wasn't really all that special.

Wasn't a big fan of the animation style either. It wasn't all that pretty compared to the unorthodox styles in stuff like Kaiba or Mononoke.
