This is a lovely manga with very wholesome vibes and adorable characters. The first volume tells the story of the two characters meeting each other, and the way they connect through their mutual admiration of each other's craft (baking and art). They both have some insecurities, which are shown in a nuanced and realistic way I enjoyed, and end up finding solace in each other's support. I really liked how suitably mature the characters are (they are all young adults) in the way they act and react to things going on in their lives and the lives of others around them. The first four episodes of this anime started out very character-driven, and I absolutely loved them. The characters are super interesting and I was immediately invested. However, after those first four episodes, the whole story got lost in a super convoluted plot that really mostly just confused me. It wasn't interesting and it had very little bearing on what I cared about until that point.
Overall, I was much more interested in the characters than the plot, and the characters barely got time to breathe from episode five on, which really wasted the potential of the initial setup. That said, I still VERY highly recommend episodes one ... |
