How are you doing?
Frizouw Jan 3, 2017 1:42 AM
Hi, where did you watch Kimi no Na wa ?
Thetys Oct 31, 2016 1:57 AM
Thanks for the recommendations !
Now I know what to watxh after Ping Pong the animation and Baccano.
You're absolutely right. There's very few people on the internet that are conscious and egalotarian enough to admit they were wrong...
It's also the case in real-life though...
The best is to have good intelligent friends. This will sound sadistic, but it is a pleasure to correct somebody's worldview/etc., especialy when it's your friend's.
Also don't you think FMA's ending is beautiful ?
Thetys Oct 26, 2016 10:13 AM
I'm egalitarian. My judicious judgements are purely scientific. The only non scientific thing I believe in while knowing it's fucking bullshit, is the consideration that human rights, althrough being simple human concepts, actually have a concrete meaning. This ideology leads to perfect, hypothetically egalitarian justice.
(also I'm very arrogant and my self-esteem is very high and I don't respect people who seem to be wrong, but that's because I'm a stupid human)
And I have no idea why I told you that.(Probably because you're not dumb, like most of the people online... And in real-life).

Go until you see "•••" if you want to see the actual replying part of this comment. Sorry man.

First of all, I'm (half) Japanese. I get it. Japanese mythology. Most people of my country doesn't even care about it, but they somehow know it because "conservatism" and traditions, thus making it an interesting theme to work around for scenarists.
Secondarily, I've read a comment in the Kimi No Na Wa forums, which has led me into re-thinking a lot of stuff.
But still, the things that happen in the movie follow very vague rules, that somehow do not always apply. (They're so messed up I don't really want to talk about them concretely, even though I can't really talk about something concretely when it's vague).
There's a lot to consider to prove if there really are flaws in this movie (AKA define the rules so they're not vague, until you see a contradiction that you cannot solve by applying new meaningful rules), but whether it has flaws or not, in which case it would be quite amazing, it's end is still imperfect : it's too short, it's not very satisfying, it's not very touching. Thus I think it "only" deserves at most a 9/10.
I compared this movie to Steins Gate because this movie seemed to have flaws, while Steins Gate really doesn't have any flaws(just remembered it did have one, though it's not a very big one "Black Hole compressing message files" but at least they've given us a short explanation), because Kimi No Na Wa has a bad ending that provides little to no satisfaction while Steins Gate's ending is very satisfying, even though it is questionable whether the romance aspect of the ending is great, or just good.
(Though, it does seem a little unfair because Steins Gate had a lot more screen time to work with...)
I can also compact this movie to Fullmetal Alchemist + it's movie. Fullmetal alchemist has no flaws, and a few unexplained things. Perfect. The end brought by the movie, very good. The plot twists, above perfect. Story : 9.5/10 The art : 8.5/10, something other than that artstyle would've been pretty bad I suppose. Audio : 7.5/10. But what matters is the plot. That's what we're comparing; it's better. Clearly. It's not just a "Oh my gad somebody I've just barely introduced u guys to has died becoz of a plot twist wat do I do"(<= not evoking any kind of compassion, pity, or drama, pure garbage.) Then why does Kimi No Na Wa get 10/10 for the plot if FMA does not deserve a 10/10(personally I think so) ?

••• Sorry for not taking your comment seriously, here's what I write as a direct reaction to reading well your text and also clicking on the links.

First of all, I'm well aware of quantum superposition. I'm well aware that this universe can be sometimes, in fact always, and mostly everywhere. I've taken that in consideration for idk, fractions of seconds until I rejected it's importance, because for instance for the "1" of my previous arrogant comment; I thought for a second "What if it was like quantum mechanics ? What if it's "Because he doesn't perfectly know the memory is currently there, it didn't erase itself before he opens the file" ?" <= This is like Shro- something's cat. It doesn't make much sense. So I stopped thinking there, feeling like it's too complicated.
Also- the concept that emotions/magic/etc make up our rules is pretty interesting. Had never thought of that. That does seem like something able to explain lots of things that seemed like flaws.
But proceeding into proving things from this movie so it is proven that is has no flaws whatsoever, takes a lot of time. A lot of time. When it comes to this amount of time, if you find a contradiction or not at the end of the long working(thinking) day, is pretty pointless, since any contradiction coming out of that would be very small, unimportant(not from a scientific aspect). I'd rather go expand the definition of the Fibonacci sequence so it deals with numbers of the complex number plane(because I've made it so it deals with all Real numbers already. Though it was easy.), which would take more time, or maybe less time.
Anyway I've come this CONCLUSION :
- I was(mostly) wrong and you were(barely even) wrong, there are no proven flaws, but flaws aren't proven not to exist.
- I still have one argument, it's that this movie's end is not very satisfying, but that's kind of a matter of opinion, and mine might be biased as hell.
- I still think that Kimi No Na Wa doesn't deserve better ratings for the plot than for Steins Gate, or FMA (or Whisper Of The Heart, etc.)

Thanks for reading this much. Sir (I'm impressed you're actually very cultured).

How could you give Kimi no Na wa's plot a 10 out of 10 even though it has inconsistencies ?
(Not talking about the "fantasy" part.)
1 - How would the phone data get erased under the eyes of Taki ? Why not before ? This could've led to a pardox if Taki had chimpanzee-like abilities(to memorize instantly what's seen) !
2 - Why was the "Suki" left on Mitsuha's hand, while the Taki's phone's calendar's data was erased ? If Taki 's name was actually Suki, couldn't it have led to a paradox ? What if he had written both his name and suki ? Would've Tami's name gotten erased ? Or not ?
3 - Why did Taki not realize he was in the past when he was switching bodies ? Had he never seen the year he was in while being in Mitsuha's body ?
4 - Why did he not know where Mitsuha lived ?
Okay, let's assume the 3 was possible because the "universe" erased Taki's memory about the year, but why would the "universe"(gods ?) do that ? To prevent a paradox ? To kill Mitsuha ? Then why did they let Taki have information about the place ???
Why is this bad movie even rated above Steins Gate ?
Steins Gate has no inconsistencies(except in the movie, but that one does not count as an episode of the Steins Gate TV series), it's plot is way better, the ending is way more satisfying because it's not just "I searched for her and I randomly found her because why not", the animation is arguably as good as Kimi No Na Wa's(nobody likes pure computer graphics in anime), the sound may not be as good as Kimi No Na Wa's, but still, those are secondary things, unless they really build an "environment" like in Cowboy Bebop, where the Jazz music and the Funky music contributes in building up a funky "environment".

Hello! Could you write me a personal message?
TheKillerAngel Jul 31, 2016 9:23 PM
You should probably update your list so that Kimi no Na wa is "completed" rather than PTW. The mods were messing with the entry's release date, causing it to reset on everyone's list.

Thanks.
