The only issue I have with berserk is that I'm not (overly) fond of the style.
Apparently I need a longer review. Berserk succeeds in literally every aspect; the story, characters, art direction, and just visceral emotion packed into the series is incredible. I read part of the black swordsman arc and was unimpressed. Then, weeks later, I picked up the golden age arc and from then on I've been hopelessly addicted. It's perfect. The comic just lives and breathes humanity. The story twists and turns, picking up some of the most interesting characters ever put to page and sticking them into a genuine protagonists' party.

SSSS Gridman is mediocre. The main cast is forgettable to the point that I just don't know their names after 11 episodes, aside from Akane. The battle scenes are littered with reused assets and a hefty amount of CG, leading to them all feeling 'same-y' and ending up often downright boring. Although the action is the worst part of the show, the dialogue and story feels lackluster and mediocre. There's course-correction later on with a Haruhi-esque twist, but with a completely forgettable main cast it just runs completely out of steam and falls more or less on its face.
