Yeah I agree. Things like excessive nudity, swearing and violence are more childish than the themes you see in stuff that's considered childish or immature. But those are usually the most touching and heartfelt works cause it relies on actual storytelling instead of edgy gimmicks.
When people say they don't like one piece, I just feel bad for them. So many emotional moments and tons of fun adventure and some of the best world building you'll see in any medium but people definitely do write it off as immature usually cause of the art style. But you saw the light so it's all good 👌

No worries friend. We all have our embarrassing and cringey pasts. I also used to only like "mature anime" and then I stopped caring after a certain point. The important thing is that you grew up and can now appreciate rubber pirates and cotton candy loving reindeer in all their glory.
