Thanks for accepting the request! I was kind of intrigued by your profile and favorites, even though I don't have 100% of them as my favorites.

And I found your profile through a mutual friend by coincidence. Nice to see you have Tower of God up there too. One of the best manhwa out there currently.

There is no definitive list, because different critics have different values and aesthetics. However, Crime and Punishment is generally considered one of the top 100 best novels. Of course some critics like Harold Bloom and Vladimir Nabokov thought it was trash and hate Dostoevsky in general.

I've rated 317 books on Goodreads, but I didn't include many books from childhood or before high school. In terms of novels, I would probably rank Crime and Punishment 4th or 5th. It's REALLY good and my 2nd favorite Dostoevsky novel after Brothers Karamazov.

I think it's a great place to start! It has tons of developed characters, and a rich tapestry of sub-plots that all come together perfectly. If you ignore prose, philosophical weight, experimental innovation, etc and solely focus on plot, I think it's the best novel ever written.

My favorite author is Fyodor Dostoevsky of Russia. However, his works aren't really great for their stories. Dostoevsky placed philosophy and psychology first, character development 2nd, and plot last. Notes from Underground is mostly the ranting diary of a broken man that refuses to leave his apartment. It's not really something you read for the plot.

I just like reading as a hobby. There are much better read people here on MAL! In terms of pure storytelling I really like Dumas. Have you read The Count of Monte Cristo?

I will admit that there are a couple that I have seen that I just haven't logged in yet, but for the majority of it. Yes this is most of the anime that I have seen.

HxH, Monster and Fate/Zero.

I dunno where I'd place them but I don't think any of them are my favourites.
