Saint Seiya is an old school Shounen Jump manga that received a recent comeback in direct sequels, prequels and spin-offs. One of the most prominent of these recent works is Saint Seiya – Lost Canvas. Lost Canvas tells the story of the previous Holy War involving Athena's saints and the army of Hades, taking place in the 18th century. The story is told on the point of view of the former Pegasus saint Tenma.

Saint Seiya – Next Dimension is set in the same period and in the same context. Like in Lost Canvas, Pegasus Tenma, Libra Dohko and Aries Shion are also present. But read more

Fuuma no Kojiro is one of the early works (1982) by Masami Kurumada (Saint Seiya's creator), and the best one after his most famous manga in my opinion.

The story is loosely based on Japanese historical ninja conflicts and rivalry, but sets in an alternative modern day, where ninjas wear high school uniforms, use bokken (wood swords) and have superpowers.

There are two big ninja clans in this anime: Fuma and Yasha.

Kojiro, the protagonist, is one of the strongest members of Fuma clan. He is engaged by Hakuo Academy to support and protect them from a rival school, Seishikan.

On the other side, Seishikan school contacts the read more

Tenkuu Senki Shurato (or simply Shurato) is most well-known as Tatsunoko's response to Toei Animation's Saint Seiya (a classic anime very famous in Brazil, Italy and France).

Saint Seiya's plot revolves around armored warriors fighting each other in the name of the Greek gods. Tenkuu Senki Shurato follows the same concept, but with Hinduism and Buddhism as background. The character Shurato is one of the warriors response to protect the goddess Vishnu and Spiritual World from the evil gods.

The Story – a summary of the first 2 episodes (some minor spoilers)

The best friends Shurato and Gai are martial artists that live in the Human World. In read more

Saint Seiya is a shounen that features several elements of mythology (mostly Greek mythology) and astronomy (constellations). The main characters, the Bronze Saints (knights), are responsible to protect goddess Athena and the humanity against the evil gods.

The fights are generally interesting, specially because the majority of the characters have a badass aura around them. On the other hand, they are more static than in other anime of the same genre, mainly because of the few techniques used by the Saints/knights.

The story is quite simple for the most part, and goes in a very monodimensional way, but it is solid.
