There's a lot of ways you can think about specific anime. But I don't think that this rule applies to Nagi no Asukara.
In my honest opinion one of the best anime that I have ever watched; and I'm glad I watched it; even if it didn't start out the way it ended.
To pull myself together I'll just quickly articulate on how I believe the start and end felt in correlation.
The start felt rushed, it seemed as if P.A. Works wanted to push the entire story quickly onto the viewer, with as little time as possible. I bet they also quickly realized this wasn't gonna work ... out that way.
The end felt extremely well managed, it didn't feel too rushed, nor did it feel too drawn out - an amazing balance was hit, in my opinion.

The story, characters and the art are all pretty unique in their own ways.
I can't say much to the story other than; watch it yourself - but the stuff I can say I'll say now.
It was a nice change of pace, something I've never heard or thought of before.
A world where sea-humans and normal-humans lived separated and tried their best to keep it that way. Until four of the youngsters of Shioshishio need to transfer school, after the one in their home town closed. They had to transfer to a school on land, where - even though they got picked on at first - they quickly made a lot of acquaintances and friends.
I felt like this part of the story wasn't properly introduced to the viewer; they could've made so much more with that.
The rest of the story was at a natural and good-to-watch pace, in my opinion.

All the characters are super unique in their own ways, although simple anime traits are to be seen in these characters, I still believe that they themselves are pretty unique, and I feel like their relationship to each other also felt natural - at least natural in the relation to their universe.

The art was outstanding, in my opinion.
It was well drawn, detailed - but not too detailed, colorful - vibrant, and cute.

I enjoyed this show more than I thought I would have when I started, but it quickly started to grow on me.

Overall I'd say it's a solid 10/10 for me, I don't see where the anime lacked else where - other than the rushed start.

Not really sure what to say about this anime.. really surprised - to say the least.
Honestly it was really intriguing to watch, the story was flawed in more than just one way but I feel like that is exactly what suits this specific anime.

Although the plot is really weird to begin with, and ends up being extremely weird; I still didn't really get bored of it.
The relationship of the characters was established quite quickly, not too much back story; quick to the point.
The art style was a surprising factor for me, I really enjoyed the art in this anime.

Nothing much to say more, ... it's a flawed anime, but it's a good flawed anime; if that makes sense. Just watch the first two episodes, and if you feel like it doesn't suite you then you know; but I'm sure it'll suite a few of you that actually enjoy these type of anime; where the anime isn't that difficult to follow - story wise.
