HOW I RATE MY ANIME?

There are 4 criteria I judge an anime with.

Story (30%)
Characters (20%)
Art & Music (20%)
Entertainment (30%)

What makes a good story?

A good story is one that is has no plot holes which impact the understanding of the story, is nuanced and memorable.
A good story should not use mysterious powers to explain an occurrence in the story without justifying or explaining where and how these powers came about, suspension of disbelief is good provided it can be justified by the underlying principles the story has introduced. It should also not be too predictable which will cause it to be boring. A memorable plot is one that is unique containing unexpected twists and also contains a lesson to be learnt for the audience to reflect on.

What makes good characters?

Good characters are ones that have personality and are relatable to. Great characters experience development in their traits, ideas and perspectives through the story.

What makes good art and music?

Acceptable art and music is one that is nice to look or listen too. However, great art and music are ones that are either stylistic, or complements the events in the story. If a sad song is well placed in a sad scene which in combination makes the audience cry, this is an example of good use of music.

Entertainment

This consists of other elements of the story like humor, worldbuilding, fight scenes... . It can also include story, art and characters. Great entertainment is one that makes me want to watch the entire series form start to end in one sitting
