As for Kekkai, I'm actually responding to this right before watching episode 4 haha. My feelings are a bit mixed at this point because while I enjoy it, I think there's a lot more that it can offer over what has been shown so far. Rei is a phenomenal director as I saw in Kyousougiga, but she seems a bit tame in comparison in this show. Episode 3 with the chess game seemed to be heading in the right direction though with a fun and weird as hell chess match. The first two episodes felt a little slow paced which isn't inherently bad, but when the show seems to be going the rule-of-cool action route from what I can tell, the slow pace is off-putting and a bit boring.
What I probably like the most about the show so far is the world-building and soundtrack. The alien and monster designs are all creative and colorful and nothing within the world built seems out of place despite how weird it is. The jazz tracks always incredibly fitting for the New York City setting which I just love and I find myself anticipating each new track.
