Don't despair, this is spoiler free ;)
Let me take a guess here. You have minimal knowledge of it's source material (Kara no Kyoukai Novel), prequel material (Tsukihime) and it's world (Nasuverse) apart from it being supposedly at the same setting as the Fate series with the same writer (Nasu). Chances are you just finished Fate/Zero and was yearning from something like it, people pointed you in this direction (Kara no Kyoukai) and you were on the verge of diving in like a madman plunging yourself in a story made of concrete that - by the way - you're wholly ignorant of but in the last ... minute managed to stop yourself out of hesitation so here you are, reading a review to convince your hesitant mind on whether to push or pull. Ignorant and insane but wary.. I like that. Fear not for we are brothers! I'm in the same boat as you. :3
Do note that I am reviewing this with no prior knowledge of the series, it's source material, world and prequel novel as I've stated above. I am also going in on this as a standalone episode, going through the next movies with the previous ones in mind and vice-versa so the existence of it's next movies doesn't really affect my opinion of this specific one.

Story - 5/10
Makes as much sense to me as why I was even born in this world. Yep, guessed it. That means zero (yes as a matter of fact I'm a guy who's wallowing in self-despair) sense. Though at this point in time, my ignorance prevents me from actually understanding what the nuts is up with this revered 'masterpiece' I think that the ambiguity behind the story to us plebeians reverberates some feeling of interest and thrill. Seems like there's actually some merit to it, as I've noticed that I was more attentive to detail and dialogue than I normally am - a result of trying to 'crack the code'. It might not have much of a story but the beauty is in digesting what you see as if you were a newborn chick so in that light, it's still entertaining even if you just don't know what the YOLK(tm) is going on. It's a mystery but from what I see it does seem to drop some hints for what's to come.

Art - 8/10
The visuals are great, eyecandy enough to call it splendid. Why just eight though? It might be that my standards are just high but I'm mainly attributing it to the fact that it's a movie. If this was a series then it'd be a ten but more time was spent on the production of this (and I guess more budget too) so I'm not really convinced that this is the best that they could've done. Then again, that might be just me.

Sound - 6/10
Yeah.. this is looking pretty subjective and I'm not trying to hide that. I was pretty disappointed because Yuki Kajiura is my favorite composer. It's a six because it is certainly slightly average and does accomplish the specific ambiance that both the composer and the directors were going for but it ends there. It's nothing more than achieving the goal - not trying to go beyond it.

Character - 5/10
The ensemble is nteresting enough to be quite entertaining to watch and decipher. I can't say much. I think that it's enough to be 'average', not good to upscale the balance but not bad to drag it down either. They're okay though they do seem to be of much depth, but that's really just a guess.

Enjoyment and Overall Score - 6/10
It's cool, pretty relaxing to watch actually. Entertaining enough and nothing mindblowing but the ambiguity (to me) it has going for it scales the movie up a bit due to the previously stated fat that it tends to make me focus more in an attempt to decipher the great puzzle beholding my eyes so I settled with six.

The synopsis doesn't do this series justice. You heard me, a lot of us decide on whether to watch a show or not based on the synopsis, so I thought I'd just give a heads up.

In describing this series with a single word, I'm going with "refreshing". The series is another one of those pseudo-romance shows where it does have bits and pieces of romance here and there but it isn't really the center of it all, well as far as it's 24 episodes spanned that is. This show is more about realistic drama and "actual" funny comedy. Realistic you ask? It's realistic because ... it's relatable and it's not over-the-top melodramatic shit. By actual, I mean no boob humor and cliches.

The characters are awesome and they feel connectable and humane. They aren't stale like all the other standard MCs. Another bonus is that it isn't really just about the MC and his girl, the cast really feel like a cast where-in they all play a part and add in something to the story. I'm sure we're all sick and tired of side characters created for the sole purpose of fan service and comic relief by now, so have no fear because the ensemble that makes up this one is far from that.

The art and animation are awesome. Very modern, crisp, vividly colorful and fluid. Not much to say about that. As far as enjoyment goes, I was hooked from the very first episode and finished the whole series within a day. I'm sure you all know what that means. *wink* I rated this a 9 because honestly, my only complaint with this show is the fact that I wanted to delve in deeper into the "romance" part of Mashiro and Kanda's relationship. :3

Bakuman 3 picks up at where the previous season ended. The quality didn't drop at all, it's as awesome as the 2nd Season and better than the 3rd. I've watched 5 episodes and given the circumstances of this anime (3rd Season) I'm sure that I can give it a worthy review.

Story (10)
The story is still great with the usual pacing style of the previous seasons. There's just something very addicting in the pacing of the story, it feels like no second is wasted at every episode. Each one brings something new to the story, good news and more hurdles at the end of the episode. ... The cliffhangers really get you excited to watch the next episode too. The plot twists are still the same as ever, they seem pretty petty and weak for an anime but they're realistic and you can really relate to them because they fit the slice-of-life genre very well.

Art (10)
Art is still the same, it's different but it's neither bad nor good. It doesn't stand out and that's actually what makes it fit for it's genre. Bakuman isn't about flashy art, dramatic music and all that glitter. It's good as it is. Though the quality drops at times, it doesn't really affect the viewing enjoyment.

Sound (8)
The sound is like the art, it's the same.. not bad and not good. The OP is decent and the singer's voice is kinda weird but it doesn't really bother me. The EP is good, nothing to say about that. No objections about the sound really.

Character (10)
Characterization is the same and still good. Same goes for character development, in fac there's actually a little bit of character development as soon as the first episode.

Enjoyment (10)
Bakuman is still addicting as ever, that's all I need to say.

Overall (10)
Overall, the quality didn't drop one bit. It's basically an extended Season 2, which was already perfect in my point of view. It's as interesting as ever and I don't think it needs any improvements at all. Any plans to change some things up 'for the better' would've backfired on them. Bakuman 2 and 3 is one of the best Animes I've seen.
