"In theory he was a master of existence, in practice he not only didn’t master his existence but was destroyed by it."
—from The Loser by Thomas Bernhard
Oh I agree, but validity isn't really important to me, as long as I'm interesting in reading one's interpretation. After all, that's what makes great literature/film fun!
Ah, alright np then. Yeah, the closed wall setting in Wonderland was pretty much the inspired setting (I think the director said so himself) for Haibane.
Yo! Thanks for some of the insight on Texhnolyze on the forums. I would like to think that I know a good deal about the show, but there's always new things that I learn so thanks for that. I was wondering if you could give me insight to something else.
So, I loved Texhnolyze, and I also thought Serial Experiments Lain was great. What did you think about Haibane Renmei? In my opinion, I just couldn't get into it at all as opposed to the other two. I know it's very different just from an atmospheric level, but I just couldn't see the beauty or depth that other people pointed out.
I mean...I still liked it a bit, but even after reading Murakami's Hardboiled Wonderland and the End of the World, which the world of the Haibane is based off of, I still couldn't find myself understanding what was so alluring about it.
I'm not a metal newbie.I've been listening to metal since I was 13. started out with New metal and metalcore then moved on to heavy metal and thrash metal and glam metal then this year went on with BM and DM.
yeah I first started out listening to the Norwegian stuff like Burzum, Bathory, Darkthrone, and Emperor. Then after that I started thinking if there was anything better than those. And's that's when I started listening to some of the stuff that's new and good. I don't bother with the new crap.
I've already listened to Bathory, Sarcofago, Burzum, Gorguts, Demilich, and Morbid Angel. thanks for the recommendations I'll check them out.

Awesome favorites, by the way. Yoshitoshi Abe is a beast of an artist.
