Cybersix (Anime) add
Growing up in Canada in the late 90's, almost every kid I knew watched Cybersix. After just rewatching it, I can see why. It's got this unique Halloween feel mingled with a French/European setting that just sets it apart from most other animated shows. It's beautiful to look at, and it's painful to know how little attention it's gotten since its completion.

Cybersix is about a Genetically engineered woman named Cybersix, and her battle against the many monsters sent by her creator to cause trouble. By day she poses as a male literature teacher, hangs out with her BFF Lucas, and acts like a geek. By ...

Ranma ½ (Manga) add
I'm not entirely sure what it was about Ranma 1/2 that had me hooked after one chapter, but whatever it was lead me to read all 401 chapters in less than two weeks. I'll just say right now that there is no overarching story in this manga. Generally, we have several shorter plots that are all set around a crazy situation.
Ranma Saotome and Akane Tendo are engaged to be married due to an agreement made by their fathers prior to their birth. However, while Ranma and his father were away in China, they became cursed. ...

What else could you expect from Ghibli?

This film is a gorgeous masterpiece in every aspect. The characters are charming and unique, the art style is beautiful, the musical score is above the majority of the movies I've seen this year, and the story is mysterious and magical.

The world in this film is never fully explained, and where this would in many cases force the viewer out of the universe of the film, in this case it only adds to the movie's already engrossing nature.

You need to see this movie. ...

Mononoke Hime (Anime) add
Princess Mononoke is art in its purest form.

I feel like I could throw in a bunch of synonyms for masterpiece and still not accurately describe how fantastic this movie is. If you've ever wondered why Ghibli is so revered for its work, just watch this.

The music is epic, and is placed in all the right spots. You will feel exactly what they want you to feel when you hear these scores.

The plot is pretty serious overall, and so are the main characters. You will have a laugh here and there thanks to the charming supporting cast.

The voice work for the english dub is ...

Fairy Tail (Anime) add
Preliminary (83/175 eps)
Fairy Tail succeeds as a shounen anime where others fall short.

The fight scenes are not 30 episodes long, but are fast paced and have the viewer constantly on the edge of their seat. Similarly, the story arcs are not so extensively drawn out that you start to wonder what it was that attracted you to the show in the first place. The story keeps moving and the audience stays interested.

The music is fantastic. During humorous or relaxing points in episodes, fiddle-Irish-folk type music adds a fun atmosphere to the show. The same type of music is executed in a more intense rocker way with electric ...

Mixed Feelings
Preliminary (3/51 eps)
When I started watching this, I was hoping for something to satisfy my Naruto appetite. Same characters, goofy plots and art style. That's what I was hoping for.

The characters lose everything that made them lovable in the original series and are made to look like idiots in this show.

Granted, it is "super deformed", so everything wrong with it is intentional, but I personally don't know if I'll be able to stomach it.

To be fair, the show has made me laugh out loud a couple of times. I think more than anything my disappointment with just how different everything is has made me write a ...

There isn't much I can say about this series that hasn't already been said.

However, when I started watching the original series, someone asked me if I planned on watching Brotherhood. I said I wasn't sure. They told me, "If you like fullmetal Alchemist, you'll LOVE Brotherhood," and they were right.

Brotherhood has much more humour than the original series. While this draws some attention away from the main plot, it allows for extra character development and keeps the story from becoming too overwhelmingly dark.

If you didn't like the original Fullmetal Alchemist, you will like this version. If you did like it, then get a move on ...

Dragon Ball (Anime) add
I'm probably going to be very unpopular for saying this, but I enjoyed the original Dragonball series way more than Dragonball Z.

The story, while essentially the same repetitive concept wearing a different jacket, is intriguing, and feels fresh each time a new arc is introduced.

The characters: classic. They're downright hilarious. Their overall charm is emphasized during Goku's demonstrations of being EXTREMELY naive. It's easy to grow attached to them. Sadly, they must be appreciated while they're around, because once Dragonball Z picks up, the only dialogue you will hear will be about powerlevels or will be grunting.

The music is addicting! Especially the ...
