A very heartfelt story with amazing visuals, and captivating character designs, and a world that keeps on expanding, if you're a fan of series like Made in Abyss or Mahoutsukai no Yome, then you're even more sure to love this one.

Story: 8

Seeing how the series revolves around Somali and her travels together with Golem, you can expect to meet lots of different characters, in various types of environments, and the journey is full of emotion, and suspense, and a looming sense of despair. Despite the overall cute appearance of this show, don't let it deceive you, it's out to rip your heart straight out of ... your chest. Although, sadly some of the better world-building scenes from the manga were cut out, I had to bump the Story rating down to an 8, but it is still very enjoyable, and a great adaptation.


Art: 10

My favorite thing about the anime adaptation so far, the background artwork, and the scenery, the visuals are absolutely stunning and even breathtaking at times. Major props to Chiho Nakamura who did Color Design (also did color design for Youjo Senki) and Vincent Nghiem (Background Art Director, debut)
Vincent especially, he put a ton of effort in the backgrounds, which absolutely helped this anime stand out. Considering the manga's gorgeous artwork that they had to live up to, they did an outstanding job in delivering and surpassing my expectations.

Sound: 9

The soundtrack is so good, I honestly can't wait for its release. It helps give so much more emotional impact to certain scenes, and don't even get me started on the OP and ED.

Character: 9

There is a wide variety of types of characters, all sorts of different races and species, and you slowly get introduced to more and more, and it helps build up the world very nicely. Some allies, and some foes, there is a really solid cast and even recurring characters outside the main two. The character designs themselves are very well done, even the background characters with zero significance have great levels of uniqueness to them.

Enjoyment: 10

There's just something super captivating about seeing these characters come to life. I firmly believe that everyone who has read the manga can still thoroughly enjoy what the anime has to offer, and vice versa. They each have their own benefits and strengths. Some scenes are cut out in the anime, and some orders of events are even rearranged, but I don't think it detracts from the show at all. In fact, some things even flow together nicer in the anime than they do in the manga. A very enjoyable watch, and definitely one of my favorites of the Winter 2020 season.

Overall: 9

I highly recommend watching it. You will not regret it, this anime is an emotional roller-coaster, even just 4 episodes in, it already has some heavy heart-hitting scenes that could make a grown man cry. A solid adaptation of one of my favorite manga, and I firmly believe that both can be enjoyed equally, with or without the other.
This anime is gonna be one of those ones that we look back on years from now and remember very, very fondly.

If you're going into this manga expecting some kind of epic and intense space-exploration adventure with the fate of humanity on the line, you'd only be half-correct. This isn't a story meant to be taken too seriously, although that could change overtime (in the same vein as how One Punch-Man changed)
If you go into this manga looking for a good laugh, then you're in the right place.


Story - 7

The plot is nothing groundbreaking, but it's interesting enough to pull you in and keep you intrigued, so long as you don't take the wacky events too seriously. It's a science fiction, and a comedy. The ... two genres that are probably the least meant to be taken seriously of all.
Some stuff isn't going to make much sense, and some scenarios are going to seem very convenient, but the whole point is for the gags and the jokes. How the characters respond to these over-the-top and ridiculous situations is where the gold lies in this series.

Art - 8

The characters each have unique designs, and the facial expressions help pull off the humor almost perfectly. I have no qualms with the art at all. And when the manga wants to, it shows off the scenery and environments beautifully.

Character - 9

Despite being only 7 chapters long at the time of writing this, I'd say the characters is one of this series strong points so far. They're very well done. Each one has their own unique traits and personalities introduced right away, and their dynamics are super enjoyable. Character interactions and humor is where I believe this series hits the nail on the head.

Enjoyment - 10

The humor in this is fantastic, at least in my opinion. I know that humor is very subjective, so this could either make or break the series for you.
I get some hints of Grand Blue while reading this, and maybe even a bit of Prison School vibes. If you like either of those two manga and their style of comedy, then I highly recommend reading Agravity Boys.

Overall - 8

Don't go into this manga taking it too seriously, because it sure as hell doesn't take itself seriously.
The humor will either land for you, or it won't. It just happens to land really well for me. The characters are enjoyable and I definitely recommend at least checking this manga out if you have the spare time!

A truly faithful adaptation of chapter 193.5 from Volume 0, showcasing All Might's dark past that led him to becoming the Symbol of Peace.

"All Might - Rising The Animation" is a great tie-in with the Two Heroes movie- and I highly recommend watching it along with the film. In fact, this OVA ends with a direct connection to that movie.

Now, as for the OVA itself:
This animated special gives much asked-for and needed depth and history to All Might's character. Although the real reason All Might smiles was hinted at during season 3 with Nana Shimura's quote about how a real ... hero saves people's hearts with a smile, this animated short brings that into fruition, and truly shows the impact she had on him. There are many parallels to be made here but I can't really go into it without treading spoiler territory.

The only real problem with this I can see people having is its very short length.. however.. I don't know what else one should've expected. It's an adaptation of a single bonus extra chapter, nothing more.
Any more length added to it and it would just be another "Training of the Dead" type of OVA. Instead, this was directly adapted from a chapter the author Kohei Horikoshi illustrated, which makes it canon and gives it much more credibility.
