I agree, it's the reverse for me. I actually love her voice acting on The Princess and the Pilot: not anywhere near the hyper-moe kind of voice, nor not as dull as what some people here in the comments section are saying. She has a sort of realistic, strong yet fragile (in a good way) voice fit for her personality.

I can't believe I see comments such as "emotionless" on her voice acting in The Princess and The Pilot. Her voice acting was on point. Maybe people got used to the over-the-top voice acting (which I find annoying) in anime these days. She brought the right amount of emotions in her voice acting as opposed to most (overacted/exaggerated) female anime characters out there.

I am confused, who played the princess?
Morohoshi Sumire or Taketomi Seika.

She did such a good job voicing Fana!!! Dullness (dull voice), people here are talking about, works perfectly for me - totally in tune with princess's shy character (that's why I would call her voice real and not dull). Something fresh and different - calm and lovely voice not so dramatic and 'all over the place' as I am used (forced?) to listen again and again everywhere else! In the matter of fact, I'm writing this down in the middle of (watching) the film as I was so impressed with her lovely voice I just had to immediately check out who the seiyuu is!!!
Sheer number of comments here, about what seems to be the only role in her career so far, proofs that there is something mesmerizing about her voice!
I wish her rich -I'm not talking about money:) and plentiful career, I really do!!!
And now back to watching the film - they've just made it to the land and the princess had cut off her hair which makes her cute and hot. I'm expecting interesting development of both - her character and story/plot as well!...

I say, her voices wasn't suited for the princess. :/ I'm not saying it badly of her, but...it's really dull...
I do hope she'll improve and get more roles in dubbing...

Honestly, I thought her voice was great. I do wish she did a little better in some parts but overall, wonderful job.

Did a fine job i Toaru Hikuushi IMO. Especially in the latter half of the film, when her character becomes less shy and more outspoken, her voice reminded me a bit of how the female leads in Miyayaki's films usually sound. Perhaps a bit plain and emotionless compared to your regular anime VA, but that's because anime characters in general have exaggerated voices.

Taketomi managed to make Fana sound just as soft-spoken and shy as you expect from someone growing up as sheltered as Fana has. Her voice came across as mellow and natural (and far more than mos anime, at that) rather than dramatic, which gave the film a somewhat more mature feel than the series. With some improvement, I'd say she had a bright career ahead of her if she'll keep up doing VAs, especially for more reserved yet still honest characters.

Like so many Japanese TV-actresses, she gets roles because of her looks rather than talent

her voice is good, it's sound soft and cheerful.
but lack of emotions and feeling. well we can't hope much for a first timer young seiyu :). she still has much to learn.

but Toaru Hikuushi e no Tsuioku has a beautiful story,
it just so disappointing the character in the story were so stiff
