Guys, it's not fanservice, it's another gaiden. Arakawa doesn't do fanservice, Bones adds it sometimes. That means no "Girls' night at Xingian hot springs", only "Stuff that is probably irrelevant to the Plot, but will bring some character development". Even "Flame Alchemist" had it, despite being mostly a gag chapter.

wait, wait , wait-wait.

Someone hasn't been reading the omake chapters (the 4 panel ones), cause they DID do the Xing hot spring thing as well as a number of other fanservice things + there's those extra chapters that were made to tie into themost recent games (they were made into animated cut scenes with in the games even) with TONS of bikini action at the Armstrong estate.

saying Arakawa doesn't do fanservice is pretty much untrue, less I point out all the times we saw Ed stripped to his boxers or Winry in the tub or stripping or all the Armstrong service.

I LOVE FMA to the point of missing and wanting to re-read the manga, but hopefully this doesn't add a new arc or something. The ending was perfect IMO, but I still can't wait for this extra. XD; Yeah, I contradict myself, w/e.

Agreed. But I`d love to see those characters animated again...

I'm anxious to see what the manga extra holds in store. I just hope it doesn't give a hint to a whole other arc or anime. I agree with most people here, the ending was perfect. It doesn't need an alternative.

let's be real, it's an amazing setting, events are still happening, and Arakawa has already created so many amazing and compelling characters that I would bet anything creating some new protagonists would be well within her ability. People are naysaying a sequel but I think once you've taken the time to establish a setting like this, letting it rot would be just wasteful.

Then that wouldn't be FMA anymore, as it would center neither on Elrics, nor the alchemy, since Ed apparently lost the ability to transmute. Making a spin-off and calling it Fullmetal Alchemist:[Something] won't do. Like it or not, it's a show about Edward (and Al), not their neighbors or friends (who are still important characters, but not as important as these two).

In comparison, you can make another Code Geass with new characters, as 'Lelouch of the Rebelion' is just a subtitle and the main focus should be Geasses and Codes.

The important thing is to know where to end. I'm looking forward to more Arakawa's works, especially new stuff, completely unrelated to Hagaren. But gaidens and fillers are fine too.
Allow me to retort. I think the title is pretty insignificant in the big picture, you'll notice I never even mentioned anything regarding what the spinoff or sequel would be called. Obviously ed is the fullmetal alchemist, but last I checked there was a whole messload of shit that happened in the series that wasn't him.

I personally don't give a fuck whether we'd call the continuation fullmetal alchemist:[anything], but it seems far more feasible to just come up with a new title. I'm not saying a sequel is necessary, she might have other stuff she wants to do yet, but a sequel would be good, not bad.

I would be shocked if a writer of her caliber forwent a sequel over a trivial matter like a title. Even if she can't there's an editor hanging around somewhere willing to come up with a new title for her, heck, she could ask some local child and use that, it's that insignificant.

you have a point . . I don't want a continuation either . A spin off , a side story , an explanation . . Would be awesome

FMA is ok and all, but just let it end already.

I find this absolutely hilarious coming from a person with Edward Elric as their avatar. :P
